Will derail the thread into another discussion which ends up in the slinging of nasty substances at the opponent. Personally, I don't mind, but the nature of the thread might call for some restraint. :P

So, you say Ice Age is worth watching?? Or only if you're under a certain age?

I hear ya. I've contimplated it as well. My mom keeps telling me that it may be a good idea. My biggest fear is to be put on pills. I don't like the thought of that. I have good days and bad days. But same as the OP when i do have bad days they seem reaaaaal bad and like i'm about to fall apart. It's been really rough and when my hubby works alot on top of it he's not around alot so i'm very lonely.

Pills are not that bad. Been there, done that. Much better than feeling lousy all the time and making your and your family and friends' lives hell as well. And many people go on pills, get better, and can stop taking them. :)

I could be wrong about this, but I believe a therapist can't prescribe medication. Only an actual psychiatrist with an PhD/MD (or whatever the doctorate for a psychiatrist is) can do that. So, as long as you're seeing a therapist who isn't an actual psychiatrist, you won't get any pills :) (....unfortunately? lol)

its hillarious, I highly recommend it

As for taking pills, BTDT a few times over the past 20 years. Nothing wrong with it. Depending on what type, most of them just help you get back to a "normal" you. If you follow.

Sometimes no amount of talking to any kind of professional will fix it. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, sometimes genetic, sometimes caused by outside forces like trauma, grief or stress. This immigration journey can really do a number on the brain.

Yes, talking to a therapist can help, but sometimes the extra help of a short term script for anti-depressants helps a lot more.

Karen, you are right about this. Only a Psychiatrist with a degree is able to prescribe medications. Therapist cannot. Usually a psychiatrist will do an initial evaluation and suggest medication go along with therapy hand in hand.

correct sister icey..your family doctor could also prescribe meds./ a psychiatrist will prescribe meds but do very little therapy///need a therapist

If I were to consult my personal physician and describe my feelings would she prescribe something or would consulting a psychiatrist be necessary?

when I went quite a few years ago, I needed a referral from my family doctor to get me into the counselor's. It may be the same here, I dunno.

Some times I just get sick of talking about it----most people don't understand. The whole lack of sleep because of the random thoughts about the freaking visa is what bugs me---I'm always tired. I found journalling helps before you go to bed. Or a huge cup o' neo citren -gravol, no really, just kidding (white wine) hahaha.

I haven't been sleeping well this past week - part of it having to do with the Visa process (I'm still waiting for my IMBRA RFE), but what's so bad is that the more tired I am, the more difficult it is for me to fall into a deep, restful sleep. I toss and turn and wake up several times through the night. It's like I've been drinking coffee all day and I don't even drink coffee.

I just want to sleep peacefully...please God. :(

Just a thought, might help, CHURCH!

I am on anxiety pills used for depression too and well i have been getting really worked up about the whole process and got myself really stressed out the other day i had to call the ambulance out because i thought i was having a heart attack but luckily they said my heart was good (they did and ECG) and that I was just stressed when they heard what was going on in my life. I went to my own doctors yesterday who had to give me some injection to calm me down - i was a right nervouse wreck at the docs. I saw the nurse first who did some blood tests and i nearly fainted which I have never done before - i had to go lie down in one of the other rooms - and then sitting next to to the doc telling him whats happening again i felt so dizzy thought i would colapse he ended giving me the shot. when i got home i was so tired just fell asleep and i am still calm today:) He said i am really stressing myself out but its not easy I cant help worrying about everything and plus ppl have come to view my house and placed no offers i am so worried if i dont sell my house:( I also have other phobias and have been waiting to talk to a medical sphychologist in the event of doing some cognitive thereapy but cuz i felt so tired and relaxed I couldnt face going to my appointment with them yesterday aftyernoon - so now thats scheduled for next friday:) umm now im wondering if i have to mention this at the medical? My GP says there is no need to.
