In the Spirit of the Season, what do you envision a better tomorrow to be like?

Here are a few wishes.

At home:

1. All Americans have health care coverage at an affordable cost, and do not need to fear job loss or a "pre existing condition" as a factor in losing that coverage.

2. A true sense of camaraderie and respectful bipartisanship begins to permeate Washington, the airwaves and media, and American society in general. Americans remain loyal to their ideologies and parties, but are able to air honest differences of opinion with each other without resorting to spiteful attacks on one another.

3. The economy recovers broadly across all sectors and regions of the country over the coming year. Job growth turns the corner and accelerates to the point where GDP is growing at ~ 4% annually, ~ 200,000-300,000 jobs are being added monthly in new and dynamic businesses, and inflation remains subdued.

Abroad:

1. Osama bin Ladin and Mullah Omar are confirmed killed by a direct hit from a Sidewinder. The Al Quaida leadership is penetrated and compromised and thrown into disarray.

2. Islamic extremists - in mosques, on the street, in madrassas - are challenged by voices of moderation who advocate peaceful coexistence with the West. The voices of the moderates become influential and dominate the discussion in Muslim societies globally.

3. Gilad Shalit is returned to his family in Israel. A decisive Palestinian authority takes responsibility for its territory and commitments, unequivocally renounces violence and declares its acceptance of the right of Israel to live within internationally recognized and secure borders, and prosecutes aggressively terrorists within its midst that attack Israelis. Similarly, the Israeli government affirms the right of Palestinians to a secure and internationally recognized state of their own, halts new settlement construction in the territories and plans seriously for the dismantling of the majority of those already constructed. The two parties engage in a serious and meaningful dialog to resolve the issues of Jerusalem, the "Right of Return", and final territorial boundaries between the two states.

Well --- one can dream, can't one?

Hats off to Ron, for daring to dream. The world is full of pessimism and it's easy to become cynical. We can have a better tomorrow but it's got to start with a thought.

people quit expecting the government to take care of them with more government programs.

Abroad:

So many politically related answers? lol. White chocolate snowman, mmmm!

A better tomorrow has people being nicer in it. I don't care what political party they are in or what they support(besides, well things that are against the law or racism and other major no-nos hehe). And it has people being less pessimistic. And people willing to look into themselves for self improvements and perhaps finding faith in something they never thought they'd believe in.

Spring is coming. If not tomorrow, then just a few tomorrows after that.

1. Home price declines in my neighborhood stop.

2. I wrap up a few work items before the end of the year, currently in a state of limbo due to circumstances out of my control.

3. My sister and good friend find full-time jobs with benefits.

4. Medicare buy-in for 60+ kicks in.

Abroad:

1. Nothing. I don't really care.

I imagine urban farming communities, making more local food available and getting neighbors to be more neighborly. More people being neighborly means less isolation, which festers resentment towards our fellow man(woman).
