I was watching Oprah today about the 911 widow (Kathy) who has squandered over 4.5 Million on shopping sprees. I guess my first question is why did the 3,000 911 murder victims' families deserve to receive over 4 million dollars each? This amount of money seems excessive considering the annual average 20,600 other murder victims we have in the USA that many never receive a dime of compensation, and those that do--do not receive anything approaching millions.

Wasn't it all donated money? If it was that why people donated it, so who's to say if they deserve it or not. I don't think any of it was mine, so I couldn't careless if she blew 100 million. Just don't come crying that you need government help because you are broke.

$4.5MM @ a measely 5% return gets you $225K a year ($18.75K/month) w/o ever even touching the damn principal - meaning you keep the $4.5MM forever just living off the interest. That lets one live comfortably even in NYC.

There's just no excuse for this kind of #######. Charity is better spent on people who really need it.

Some people can't handle any amount of money. They spend for today and don't think about tomorrow. Look at people who have won the lotteries. Most of them are bankruptcy with than 4 years after winning. Hell just look at some of the people who live here in my hometown of New Orleans, they spend money on beer, strip clubs, drugs, handbags and etc. knowing they didn't have a place to live or food to eat.
