My beautiful wife is very irresponsible

We have discussed this several times but it just hasn't sunk in. I don't know where she got this, she comes from a country that has a very high rate of poverty. You would think she would be conserative but she is just to opposite.

Maybe you need to make your home, more like home for a while... (what ever that means to her) I'm not ashamed to say I'm glad it's not me - in fact Karin has taught me a thing or two.

That's impossible, Otto. We were just sure that you already know everything.

My sweet little Claudeth is a wonderful, giving woman but is also the most irresponsible person I have ever met in my life. I never seen anyone melt a bar of soap before but she does it. She can plug up the shower drain quickly and just loves to take 30 or 45 minute showers twice a day. She leaves the lights on constantly and the refrigator open all the time. She will fill her plate full of food and eat about 1/4 of it and the rest goes in the trash.

I am totally at my wits end. I have been dealing with this for 4 1/2 years but have made no progress in teaching her conservation. I love her very much and would never dream of getting rid of her but have been thinking of sending her to the Philippines for a visit.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have heard comments off and on but nothing consistant with what my little consumer does.

she needs to understand that just because she can do something, that does not mean she should. perhaps you should point out that this wastefullness on her part costs money, which curtails her shopping....

Hi Jim! At El Prado GC, does she keep the scorecard? If she does, then she might pencil down a 5 for herself instead of a 7. And for you, she might write down a 7 instead of a 4 or 5. After the round, she’ll tell you she beat you by18 strokes and that you have to treat her to a steak dinner with a glass or two of cabernet to chase it down!

maybe it's time to cut her allowance down or give her a tight household budget or bring her to the poor community in your area so she will have exposure to the other life in the US. my husband calls me "kuripot" for trying to save or recycle almost anything.

maybe you should fix her smaller portioned plate for her... then IF she wants more she can go back.

I agree with this.

The holidays are coming up. Make plans and both of you can go serve homeless people at a soup kitchen. Let her see how good she has it and how life really can be. Things like that have been known to change a person and maybe she can find her calling and do something in the social services field, or start volunteering. It can't hurt to try. And if you have to not tell her and make the little "trip" a suprise, then so be it. Good luck.

January 2011 - Moved to India - Yikes!

October 2011 - DCF filing rejected by overzealous employee at the embassy

May 1, 2012 - RFE and some of our information was entered into the computer wrong by the CSC

Oh my, she's like a little kid that needs some spanking for having these bad habits! :bonk: She's lucky that you have an enormous patience for her .Maybe you need to be a little harder this time? Show some tough love and see if there will be any changes in her behavior?

I have no immediate answers or flippant responses, but....

1. cut the soap bars into 1/8 size back in the workshop, only keep 1 soap cutting in the bathroom.

2. replace all of your dishes with 5 inch tea saucers. Really - ALL OF THEM.

Good Luck !

Yo Jasman. The Honeymoon is history. Time to knuckle down and make some solid rules or you will be bothered by her actions and the marriage will be over.

Easy to understand the shower trip if she was raised using a tabo and cold water or a little warm water heated on the stove.

Same thing with the food if she was raised in a poor family and didn't have lots of food on the table.

I have similiar problems with my wife and anak after 4+ years.

Maybe because back in the Philippines, she was deprived with all those things, but it's not an excuse.everything here are expensive and she should not waste those especially the food.a lot of people are starving especially in the Philippines. It's about time you two should talk and work these things out.
