Well, as I had suspected, we have received an RFE for form I-693 - although there are so many posts on here about the civil surgeon process, they are so conflicting. MY husband had a full medical exam in his home country in September. He received all the required vaccinations. There is so much repetition in the immigration process. Every civil surgeon I called is telling me that he has to have a full medical for which they charge $180-$250. I told them that only a transcription of the vaccinations are required and they said they cannot sign off on someone elses work. Anybody else experiencing this??

Like you i also had a RFE for I-693 and i just paid $200 for a new medical. I could'nt find a civil surgeon to transcribe the vaccinations and it got frustrating so i just got a new medical.

I see you are in new york, if your bio is at Varick street, you can do a walk in, thats what i did; very easy.

Joining the November filers list. We'll be sending our I-485/I-765/I-131 to the Chicago lock box tomorrow...and eating macaroni and cheese the rest of the month. Wedding, honeymoon, and green card fees in the span of a month do horrible things to the savings account. :(

A honeymoon??? What's THAT!? lol. My husband and I were unable to file immediately after we were married....soooo....we're late filers hoping that we won't have too much trouble.. We mailed our NOA and EAD together on 11/28 to the Chicago Lockbox, it was received 11/30, NOA was issued 12/04, check was cashed 12/07, and NOA was received 12/08....so far so good....

We met in October 2007 and our immigration journey started in July 2008 when we filed for the I-129F Fiance Visa petition.

I talked with a couple just yesterday at the St Paul office and they had this problem also. They were well within a year of their medical exam from the host country, but still got a RFE for not submitting an I-693!?. They will be stuck going to a civil surgeon and completing the medical exam... very sad!
