Nice car, but here in the middle east that car got a name of TIIDA.

Nissan is a bit inexpensive when it comes to maintenance unlike Honda cars but I love Honda.

Sorry for the confusion I do have the car in my possession. It's parked right outside looks great too only it's not financed yet! lol I've been reading and reading and reading half the night I have to admit I feel sick physically sick that I got caught like this. Sick that I got caught and more sick that I didn't see it coming either I assumed like most would if they said yes and gave me the keys then it's a done deal? I've found consumer protection to be light on the ground in this part of the world. From what I understand if I've taken possession then the dealer is the creditor until he sells my file or the loan to another creditor. I'm hoping I can talk my bank into it which I don't think they'll do as I don't have that 25% and no one will loan me it now that the dealer has hit my credit file so often yesterday.

I've also found that unless I hire a lawyer or find a way to squeeze the dealer I won't be seeing the trade in value of my old car back. I expect if and when my bank says no the dealer will scream give us the car back or we'll report it stolen/repo it! Which they can't really do since I didn't steal it and have the papers and my plate on it but I've no doubt none of that was transferred yet. They may try and sell my loan to a shark for a very high APR. It seems I've fallen into the spot delivery scam in a way I don't think this is a scam to get more cash outta me at the start but I was caught in the take it home it's yours part of it. I feel this is auto fraud to tell someone yes the auto company says yes then they says no I'm sorry they can't approve you. They even had the paperwork all run up showed me my payments per month, when the first was due who approved the loan..etc sneakily they didn't give me a copy of that as I'm thinking now they knew it wasn't approved so I left without it.

Either way I'm talking to my bank today, I might end up having to talk to a lawyer and looking at some used cars. If worst comes to it I'll hire a lawyer and take it to the courts I can at the very least try something but I'll lose money wise in fact from what I read I might not get my old car back or the cost of it and the dealer could well ask for "rental costs" for this one if they took it back. I'll end up in an old used banger that will likely die shortly and I'll be paying for, for the next 4 years but what other options do I have now. Could always just jump on a plane and go home.. drive that nice new car all the way from Florida up to DC and park it at the airport let the dealer pay the impound fee's and repo it lmfao! He pushes me around too much I'll drive it to Canada and jump on a plane there and go home. At this point I've little holding me here apart from a nice job and a nice wee apartment that and guaranteed unemployment back home initially.

Thanks for all the messages!..

After all of this, everything I went thought to get that perfect deal seems the dealer got me in the end, sneaky wee b@astard. He's good at his job, very good. I didn't know about "spot delivery" I left the dealership last night being told over and over again I was approved for 6.77% today I get a call and I'm told no actually I'm denied! How can I go from approved to denied! I've no financing for the vehicle my other car is dead and I'm now in half a mind to use this car to run the sales man over with it. I'll have to talk to my bank tomorrow in the hope I can get a deal outta them they originally wanted 25% down well that died when my other car died.

Murhpy's Law always hits me twice and always quite hard. Whats the worst can happen? I end up riding a moped to work lmao! That or a used buy here pay here for ever!

What the hell?! That sucks! I'm sorry. :(

Keep us posted on what the bank says. Would they approve you for a lesser amount? Say, if you wanted a late-model used car for 10K or something?

By the way, what was wrong w/ the Escort?

I only just and no more managed to get my bank to approve me for $14 and that was if I put down 25% of the total cost around $3,500 not a problem when the Escort was alive, actually still not a problem if I had time to save it up. I had some saved and the extra from the sale of the escort would have given me that 25% in about 4 weeks. Well the Escort died and before it died I thought I'd invest just a tiny bit of money to make it a nice buy for someone at the point I didn't know it was dying of course. Well two/three days ago I'm driving along and hear an small explosion from the engine compartment. Had it looked at and was told the head was beating on something or something was beating on the head. Repairs would start at around $1,500.. the car is only worth that on KBB so thought I'd trade it.

I also have a decent idea why the escort died, it was fine.. stopped to fill up and the tank was empty.. tired the next level up also empty! Filled up elsewhere and all was well. Day or two later car was running really rough sputtering and almost stalling so had it looked at fuel filter..etc replaced. All was fine again until well the other day. My thoughts are that I may have scooped up some ####### from the empty tanks that got through the fuel filter and into the combustion chamber. The car was fine before this it only had 96k on it and was in excellent condition. I had 3 mechanics look at it in the past year all 3 said it was in excellent mechanical condition.

I suppose Murphy's law is hitting me three times over then, first the fuel, then the escort, now this whole mess.

Think out of the box, this vehicle $123K brand new without dealing first is good for about 4 million miles before any major work has got to be done.

e65a315c-9e08-4013-8a07-9efb6a00b46a.jpg

Pieces of ####### they sell to use, let's say a Honda Accord, maybe good for 200K with a price tag of $27K, if it doesn't turn to rust first, would have to buy 20 of them to get the same mileage as a new Kenworth. That adds up to $540,000.00 for the same mileage, practically five time the price. Sure that Kenworth will need an overhaul at 4 million miles, but should be quite a lot longer than that if not pulling a trailer with a GVW of 88,000 pounds. But if you like to move a lot, even more payback by doing it yourself. May even be able to fool the IRS into getting a mileage deduction, no way to do that with a passenger vehicle.

Also a safety issue, if running into a Suburban, that Suburban would be trash, but if you were driving an Escort, you would be trash.

People love to burn engineers for the trash we have, not true, a good engineer that knows his stuff, likes to design good stuff. Much preferred working in the trucking markets where I could add 50 cents to a component to make it good and reliable. In the passenger area, make it cheap and dirty, if you don't, they will find somebody else that will. Most of the time, felt I was flushing better stuff down the toilet than coming off the drafting table.

Don't give me this ####### that one passenger car is a lot better than another, when in fact they are all ####### and practically all the components used in the manufacturing process are throwaway, won't be long the entire vehicle will be throwaway the way the market is going. The main EPA target for the transportation is the passenger vehicle, laws are extra stiff, and let the consumer assume the responsibility for the sh!t you are buying.

You heard this from a guy that knows the business. If you really like BS, read all these passenger car magazines, even quote them, Consumers Report is one of the worse, and you are suppose to trust them.

That I wouldn't get in my driveway! although I'd love to see what it would look like taking up the whole yard. The sound of it first thing in the morning heading into the office would be fun for the neighbours I'm sure! Then again having said that I work in an office and see people arrive to work in suites getting out of massive pickup trucks that I doubt have pulled anything more than a christmas tree

It's only two feet wider than a normal passenger car, you could live in that sleeper cab, but can buy one with a much shorter wheelbase without it. Having fun with this conversation.

I will say even though I seem to have issues with that dealership basically lying to me about financing. The car itself is great, very comfy and it has a ton of room inside! It feels to me just the average car buyer like part car part crossover. You actually sit up in that car not down on the ground and it feels very tall and bigger than it is inside.

I'm sorry to hear all that, what a pain. Good luck with whatever you decide to/are able to do.

I can say that I've had very good luck buying used cars from private parties. In 2005, I got a 3-year used car loan from my bank for $8500 and bought a 2001 Honda Civic w/ 58,000 miles on it. I had my mechanic look it over before I bought it. We still have it and have had zero problems. Just a thought if you can afford something like that...? Later-model used is a sensible way to go, as long as you have it looked at beforehand. The husband drives the Civic--I have a Nissan. :-)

I do understand the temptation to get a brand new car, though...and what a drag that you have it but are uncertain about what will happen.

Dealers suck.

I agree and next time that is what I think I'll do. Buy a nicer used car with some miles on it from a first owner if I can and go from there. This is more stress than the immigration interview! lol
