Ok we filed for my wifes AOS along with an i-130 in may of last year. She had her biometrics, and recieved her EAD. Then we had an interview on February 4th 2009. And the immigration officer says that she was recommending this case for approval. And that she should recieve her green card within 30-60 days.

Well fast forward, 30-60 days came and went, we scheduled an info pass appointmnet, only to be told that they could not help us, as it was sent for Supervisory review. And that it could take 1-2 years to process.

It takes us 2.5 hours to get down to our local office, and 2.5 hours to get home. Which I don't mind doing, IF we are going to get a response other then "we can't help you..."

We have called the uscis line, and got the run around, We have opened SEVERAL service requests. Only to get a standard reply, that we need to wait an ADDITIONAL 6 months, for a reply.

It is now over a year and a half since we originalluy filed, and we ares till wondering what the heck is going on!

We finally contacted our Senator, and he looked into it for us, and called us today, saying that it was upt o be scheduled for ANOTHER interview, and that USCIS should be in contact with us soon.

Anyone know what the heck is up? Why are we being scheduled for another interview, especially since we had our interview on February 4th of this year. We are haveing the senator contact the USCIS again to see why we need a second interview, but if you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know.

The senator stated that there are no red flags on the case. That it is Normal for a second interview to be scheduled before approval.

My wife and I have a BIG age difference between us (20+ years) so we are thinking maybe thats why they are holding this up?

Suggestions, or comments are welcome here!

That is really weird... I don`t have any suggestions for you other than wait... If a second interview is scheduled that would be your chance to finally find out what is going on and probably (hopefully) put an end to it.

I just wanted to say that my husband and I have 27 years age difference and that that wasn`t an issue.

Just wait a little more and hope for the best.

Good Luck!

I really don't understand a lot of the secrecy that seems to go on. This isn't the first time I have seen someone post that after interview it seems likely they will be approved-and then there is some weird hold up. Why can't they just tell you at the interview what problems might be encountered? And if issues do come up, why don't they just tell people what the issues are?? It's bad enough that people have to wait for weeks and months and in some cases years, without even knowing WHAT is holding them up.

A second interview usually means that the USCIS was not satisfied with the evidence of a bona-fide marriage. I would suggest preparing for a Stokes interview. You can Google "Stokes interview" or search on VJ.

As for the age thing...IMHO it's not the age. My husband (Canadian) is younger than me by 14 years and as far as I know they never even blinked about it.

However, I would make sure you have LOTS of evidence of a bona-fide marriage for the interview....just in case. Like another poster stated, it might be a Stokes Interview.

At the first interview back on February 4th, she seperated us at the conclusion, and asked us both the same questions to see if we matched up. She interviewed my husband sepretly while i sat in the waiting room, then after she was done with him, she asked me the same questions. Would this not be considered the Stokes interview??

Why would we have to go back for yet another Stokes interview??? Arghhhhhhhh

wow that's strange. We had our interview in the same room, but I sent so much proof and I was so careful with the paperwork. I mean I had each petition all in 3 ring binders with labels and everything. Perhaps the care in which you send in your documentation really matters. I set a photo album with every petition and I pretty much over killed them with information of a bonifide relationship every change I got and when we did our interview the dudes file he had on us was like 2 feet tall lol. Perhaps all of that's changes things I don't know.

I also had so many damn notirized statements from everyone I knew that it was sick... everyone of their statements were signed, notarized and I had like 20 of them..... I wonder if that changed things?

I checked out your timeline, was a little confused. Did you apply for K3? There is no mention of that process in your timeline. I really know nothing about that process though, so maybe I'm just missing something.

It also says in your timeline that your wife came as visitor in 2002 and you were married in 2003. Did you apply for K3 then? Did she go back to her country at any point? In your timeline it says your consulate is in Armenia, but your profile flag says Canada? Also wondering why you didn't apply for AOS until 2008.

I think there are some confusing things here. Maybe it's just me. ;) You must have raised some red flags with USCIS though. What kinds of questions did they ask you at your interview?

I feel like some info is missing here. Sorry if I missed something obvious.

It is NOT normal to be intreviewed twice. They will call you for a second interview if they suspect fraud. There can be many things that trigger a second interview, nobody can say for sure if it's the age difference.

The second interview is more comprehensive. You will need to prepare your answers well. You will probably be interviewed separately and then your replies will be compared.

Do not take this 2nd interview lightly, be well prepared.

It is commonly called a "stokes" interview. Read up on it and get prepared, it will not be a pleasant day.
