We don't have a house together, we have no lease, our car is not in our name as the insurance payments are too much, we don't have health insurance and neither of us hve ANY credit so we are having a very hard time trying to get a credit card and probably won't have one in time for interview.

We do have photo's, receipts of purchases (a puppy and wedding rings), two bank accounts with both of our names on them and vet bills. These are the only things we have that have both of our names on them. Oh and we also have a stack of wedding cards with both our names on them.

Do I have enough? What can I do in the next 2 weeks before our interview to get more evidence?

If you live with say, his parents, they can draft an affidavit saying you rent from them. You can also include notarized affidavits from family and friends that know you as a couple. Seems your evidence is a little flimsy; but you can beef it up with the affidavits. Photos are also fgood, even if secondary, evidence.

We are looking to get a loan (just got home from the bank) with a co-signer since neither of us have any credit record. Would the amount of that loan have an effect? We don't want to have any debt just because of this immigration process so we were hoping that going for the smallest amount possible would be ok? It would be $500.

Would this help our situation any?

And yes we do live with his parents so we will work on getting the affidavit saying we rent from them. Would the amount of rent we pay also matter?

Thanks.

Hi Aloe,

I just wanted to let you know I also didn't bring much evidence and got approved. We only had joint bank statement and a utility bill and we weren't asked about any other evidence. Adding a name on the utility bill can be easy and quick depending on the company. Also, you can get a secured credit card w/o credit history.

Sadly, their interview is in two weeks. This is something they could have changed before - utility bills and whanot- but in this time frame there is little to do.

2 weeks is little time, but wanted to let them know some options. In my case, the utility bill was the quickest as I called the company and they added my name, and I asked them to email us an updated bill and it came on the same day with my name :)

We don't HAVE utility bills to add my name to! They are all in his parents names. We have been racking our brains trying to think of things that we can do for this WITHOUT putting us in debt or costing a fortune. I don't understand how they can expect us to have all of these things already. I haven't been allowed to do anything until 2 weeks or so ago when I got an SSN number.

I think we will be fine now though. We are going to take out a loan in both of our names with the help of a co-signer to 1. Build Credit and 2. Hopefully it will help us at the interview. We will also get the affidavits Len suggested and take everything else we have. From the looks of it a lot of people are getting by on a LOT less so we are crossing our fingers that it will be ok for us too.

I do apologize to change the subject.

As I inderstand from your Timeline, you came to US on B-1 (Tourist Visa) 11/2008 & got married 04/2009 & filed AOS in the same month. If I were you I would worry about this situation rather than finding documents to prove the Bonafide marriage.

Good Luck !....

Well then Cino I am glad I am not you! I am not in the least bit worried about it because what me and my husband happened to do was perfectly legal.

If I had have come to the U.S. on a B-2 WITH the intentions of marrying my husband then yes I would be worried but I didn't, I came here with every intention of returning to Australia and I have all the paperwork and evidence to prove it. Maybe you should look these things up before you go posting them instead of trying to scare the heebeejeebees out of other people who may be uncertain of their situation. Otherwise just don't comment when you don't know what you are talking about?

This is the way you thought & intended to do. It does not matter what you think or what I think. The most important thing is what IO will think during your interview next month.

Btw, you don't have to be offensive against me, because I am on your side & trying to help you out here !...

Good Luck at the interview !....

I'm sorry Aloe but I agree with Cino a bit. It DOES look dodgy, so I would make sure you take all that proof of returning with you... it might help later. You will probably also need to explain how things changed in that small period in which you got married. I don't know but I'm just suggesting. Like if you have all this evidence that proves you were gunna go back, what happened to all those "situations" that were gunna make you go back?

Do you have proof of your relationship before you got married? Like emails and calls and things? That's evidence of a relationship, don't know if it matters when you're already married but it proves a relationship. They should understand you've had limited time. You're married so maybe wedding pics? Affidavits from friends?

I trust you should be fine, but do we wary of the questions Cino and I mentioned MIGHT come so that you're not freaked out and on the spot.

Good luck with your interview! :D :D
