Before I ask this, I want to be clear that I am NOT asking if having a child can be considered proof of the seriousness of the relationship or of ongoing contact. I understand that a child is not a pawn to be used to get someone into the country, and I have proof of ongoing relationship in the form of letters and packages between us, INSANE phone bills, and chat logs, as well as letters from both our families..

My question is this- shortly after I returned from Morocco in March, I had to move quickly, in an emergency situation, and my ticket stubs from the trip were lost in the move (they're tiny little things). I DO have my passport which was stamped for arrival to Morocco and admission back to the US, but the stamp is rather blurry, and I'm not sure if I can contact the airline to ask if they can provide proof that I was on the flight. I'm due to have our baby late in November, and planned to apply for him shortly thereafter, and wondered if a DNA test of our daughter can be used to establish that we have met within the past two years, as he has had no prior contact with US Immigration and has never left Morocco.

Thank you all in advance for not chastising me about getting pregnant before marriage. It happens, and I am aware of the situation I have placed myself in.. I don't need reminders :) And thank you also in advance for your advice.

Congrats on your baby girl. What I did was make copies of the pages in my passport. You can try to make it darker because I know it can be blurry. If you had your flight itinerary emailed to you, you could try printing that out if the airlines proves not to be so helpful. That is what I did because I think I just had thrown the stubs away not thinking about the process. Get started on the process as soon as you can, who knows maybe you could get an NOA2 by November. Never know. I did read something about DNA tests, I would say yes it could be used to prove you have ties together, but I am sure a senior member could shine more light on that. I hope I have been of some help.

Passport stamp is good primary evidence. Do you have the luggage tags? They often have your name, flight number, date printed on them as well.

I haven't heard of anyone getting boarding pass copies from the airline. A copy of the itinerary isn't as good, but will help in support of the passport stamp.

Passport stamps should be ok, maybe see if you can get a credit card statement of when you bought the ticket, hotel charges etc too. Do you have any photos at all? That will help too. I guess the DNA test would work, but you should not need it and it's expensive.

A DNA test is extremely expensive and time consuming. Try and get a copy of your trip itinerary and the passport stamps as well. Passport stamps regardless of being blurry are even better than boarding passes. Are you planning on taking any trips between now and November?

For proof of visiting each other... what happens if we met in a different country? I met my fiancee in Taiwan twice (she is from Korea). She just finished a 3 month visit with me. So a total of 3 visits together - but the first 2 are both of us being in Taiwan. Passport stamps for Taiwan are visible in mine, but she got a new passport since our trips to Taiwan... (because the US requires an electronic passport for Korean's using the VWP).

Is a printout of itinerary of our flights good enough? I never thought about keeping the ticket stubs.... :(

I used all print outs and had no problem at all, but i also photocopy any stamps and all stamps in my passport of visitng him and going on vacation with him, as well as all photos of him and I and his family that i had as proof.

I dont think really where you met matters as long as you have proof you met? I may be wrong tho but it would seem silly to be THAT picky about it lol.

She should still have her old passport, shouldn't she? I don't know what the process is in Korea, but here when they issue a new passport they will give the old one back after cancelling it (cutting the corners off).

It's a very good idea for her to hang on to that old passport, I have seen people being asked at POE for their old passport / any other passport they might have. I assume it's to see if they've travelled to the US on a passport other than their current one, but that's guesswork - I can't think why else they'd want to see it.

surely you also have other proofs, credit cards, receipts from things from there, pictures of you together and maybe with family, did you call home from there etc i do believe you can call the airlines also and get a print out, maybe how was the ticket paid for credit card> but things (pictures etc from there)will show better proof as anyone can buy a ticket but you need show you used it....(i know crazy logic but) the other things are good also, letters, chats show ongoing and of course the baby is pretty good proof you met :innocent: it all goes together so get as much as you can

If you scan in your passport you can use a program like photoshop to play around with colour levels, contrast, tints, hue/saturation to make the stamp clearer. I'm not suggesting altering the image in any way, just playing with what's already there. If you want... you can PM me, I'd be more than happy to do this for you. I'm a designer and have a few difference processes I use on a daily basis to alter scanned images. If it doesn't work or you choose not to use it, that's fine and totally up to you, but worth I shot I say! :o)

It's a shame in this day 'n age that they don't use a better way to 'stamp' a passport.

As for DNA test being proof you physically met.... yes, I'd say that's good evidence, but a pretty long winded/expensive way to get it. I'm not sure of the price, but I'd guess not far off just flying out there again.

I know the feeling. Everytime I go thru customs, I pray that the officer's stamp is well inked, and that he gives me a good passport stamp. I figure we can't request a neat stamping, cuz then we would get the opposite of what we request. Isn't that how life works.

So far, I have gotten all legible stamps in 3 trips abroad.

I agree. A DNA test for this purpose does not make sense. How did you pay for your ticket? Some credit card companies give a detailed listing of your ticket on the statement. I was shocked when I got back from Ethiopia and saw Chase statement- it listed my tripwith the flight number and departure times.

Passport stamp and/or ticket stubs should be proof that you entered the country. As for proof of meeting, don't you have a photo? An e-mail sent near the time you came back to the US saying "so good to see you again, miss you, etc." ? Or one right before you left saying here are the dates and time of my flight?

I couldnt find my boarding passes either, because I tend to throw that stuff out after I get home and clean the suitcase.

When I came home from meeting my fiance, I didn't know I was going to need all these things.

What I did have, and used for proof of meeting was the passport stamp and a receipt for cashing a travelers check in BKK - it had my passport # on it; along with some other receipts.

If you used your credit card to purchase anything while you were abroad, the receipt for that would serve as supporting evidence of being in-country.

along with a photo or two of course, but photos are secondary evidence (they can be faked).
