I 130 Check Cashed before NOA1

I am just wondering if it is standing procedure for the Chicago lockbox to cash the check for the filling fee for the I-130 and then sends the NOA1, I have read other posters time lines and notice that it has happened before. I am just wondering if it is standing procedures and why they do it like that.

Thanks in advance.

Yep, thats standard procedure. If you have access to an image of that check, you can get your receipt number off the back and start tracking it online. :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks for your prompt response!,

I went and got a copy (image) of the cashed check on the back of check, I use the number that start with "WCA" but when I try to track it, I get the following message: Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

Yes, your check is cashed as the USCIS (recieves) accepts your petition and enters it into the system. The receipt date is the day the package is opened, inspected, and accepted. This can be several days after the package arrives.

To find your number on the back of the check look for a number with WAC for Nebraska or SC, such as MSC. The number on the back of our check was wrong.

Case Status Online (CRIS) is not always accurate. It may take a few weeks for you to show in the system. Some times touches are not recorded and sometimes approvals are late or not shown in CRIS. We had no touches after the transfer to CSC until he petition was approved.

Have a nice journey. You will learn about patience dealing with USCIS.

Our history has been the USCIS cashes our check practically even before with send it with the application. Always sent a personal check from our joint account, you would think that would be sufficient evidence, what do they need all that other stuff for? But after they receive and cash it, you wait, and wait, and wait.

Like dealing with private people better, don't pay, until the job is satisfactory done. Checking your status on line? Can even go back five years and show you the only thing posted is that they received our check. Never updated. But at least, they did that, least you have proof with that canceled check, you did sent in your application.

like someone else said, it may not be online yet..if you are sure that you have the right number (might be WAC)..it may take a few days. Our image was kinda blurry and I played with the numbers until i got it. I was so OCD about this process, and still am

Ours was on right away.

The only expeditious part of the entire journey is how fast they can strip you from your cash!

I know I am early, but our file was received in Chicago on June 25 (sent on the 23rd), check was cashed on June 29. Just hoping to receive my NOA1 this week. I was relieved that they cashed the check so at least I know they received our file officially, but I really need the hard copy in my hands

WAC is for California. Nebraska hasn't processed family based petitions in several years. Checks for I-130 petitions are removed from files and deposited in Chicago. Notices of action are mailed from the CSC or VSC after they receive the case. Sometimes the notices are never received. Sometimes cases never appear in CRIS but they usually take a few days to get into the system.

Yes, that happens with our application as well. I'm not sure why they did that tho. I was just happy that they rec'd it and were processing my docs.
