More details are needed for anyone to offer useful advice. What evidence was presented to show a bona fide marriage? Did you marry suddenly without much time for courting? etc. etc. How often did you visit each other before and after marriage?

Probably you both need to start the process over again and build a better file to submit.

I was at the US embassy,Lagos on June 16,2009 and I was refused the visa..The consular officer that interviewed me said that our 8 months marriage is meant for immigration purpose...please kindly advice me and my spouse what we need to do.

Please provide more details because the CR1 IS an immigrant visa......so the consulars statement doesn't make sense. Without more info it will be difficult for people here to help you.

Best Wishes

I think he's saying that the CO is indicating that the marriage is a sham, and was entered into only for the purpose of immigration.

You need to retain a lawyer!!! that specializes in denials.

What did you produce as evidence? Did you answer some questions incorrectly?

Something about the interview or the way the questioned were answered gave them a reason to reject the petition. Nigeria is famous for rejecting things. It doesn't matter how real you know the marriage is , for some reason they didn't see it that way. I would recommend Marc Ellis ( he is on here as Ellis Island ) marcellislaw@gmail.com He can help you figure out what the next thing to do is.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
