Hey everyone.

I'm new to this site.

I've read on it a couple of times but tonight I decided to actually join.

I met my boyfriend about 10 months ago online, I'm sure like many of you have, and feel in love pretty damn fast.

He's an amazing person and I can't wait to spend my life with him.

But all this paperwork and steps is making me anxious! Ekk.

I live in Ontario, Canada right now and he lives in Texas.

It says something about a Texas Service Center...?

A) What is that haha

B) What can it do to help us?

Anyways I've never tried to do anything even close to this so I'll probably have lots of stupid questions, but I'll try to refer to the FAQ's first because spamming the site;)

I met him on MySpace.

It was a pretty random thing for us to meet, which, for me, kinda confirms it was really meant to be:)

To be honest, I would never wish web dating upon anyone.

It is the most lonely and frustrating thing I have ever done!

Welcome to VJ. You'll find this a very helpful site as you go through the process. I'm a dual citizen US/Canadian. Born in the US, raised in Canada (Ottawa, Toronto). Where in Ontario are you?

Assuming you intend to file for a K-1 fiance visa, the Texas Service Center will not have any bearing on your case. All petitions are processed through one of two centers in Vermont and California, based upon the state of residence of the USC petitioner. Since your fiance lives in Texas your case will go through the California Service Center (CSC). You should read the guides for the rest of the processing.

Be prepared for it to take anywhere from 6 months and up to get the visa. We filed our I-129F in September and we still are not done in mid-May. That's probably longer than average but by no means rare.

Welcome aboard!

The whole visa journey can be overwhelming at first, but reading the VJ guides, others' topics, USCIS website and the US embassy in Canada website will greatly help you.

I wish you the best on your visa journey :-)

Welcome to VJ !

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thanks so much everyone:)

Seems like so much but its always encouraging to see people that have survived it! Haha.

Too bad he recently lost his job so it doesn't look like we will be starting on this for a couple of more months.

Oh well, thats life, plus gives us a little more time to look this over and figure it out and start filling stuff out right:)
