Maybe you could look for a filipine community or club in your area that could hook you up with an immigration lawyer. Beats wasting time sending papers through the mail and talking on the phone. Just an idea.

check Michael J. Gurfinkel. He's services are not cheap but he does the job.

http://www.gurfinkel.com/

I did not have a good experience with my lawyer.

Why? When it came to the consulate level it delayed things, he was not aware of embassy specific requirements, I ended up doing everything as far as follow ups and establishing contacts.

Goodluck!

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

I can't recommend who you should use, but I can definitely tell you not to use them. They delayed my case for months, and made no less than 10 errors. Good luck getting a response from them after you pay them.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

How did you find out about Mr. Lolly? From an ad on a website?

That's no way to pick a lawyer.

If you are really interested in finding a qualified attorney who specializes in family based immigration, go to AILA.com.

Read here: http://www.ailalawyer.com/FAQ.aspx?LanguageId=english#17.

At least the members of AILA are immigration specialists. That alone does not make them right for the job. Interview your attorney. Ask about their success rate; what their policy is for returning your phone calls and who will answer them; ask if they will oversee the completion of your paperwork or if their assistant does; ask about the credentials of their assistants; ask about their credentials; ask if they have ever served in any capacity in the State Department or US Attorneys offices or have contacts within; ask if they have contacts within your Service Center or your Consulate.

You can use a lawyer, which will cost you more, alot more and add waiting time- remember they have more cases and things to do besides yours or you could try to do it yourself, follow directions and save time and money. of course you have to follow directions well, so there are no mistakes, but lawyers make those too. sounds like you just want to pay someone to do it for you and just sit back and wait. thats fine - if thats what you want to do and dont mind the cost. i've done it both ways and i prefer doing it myself. i've already saved $1500 and probably 2 months. if you did it yourself- there are enough people on here[ VJ ] that could advise you for free- whatever your decision - good luck

We got a lawyer for my fiancee visa and my husband said "All he do is to fill-up the paper work". Plus he had some error on some forms that I need to correct.

With the help of VJ members here you can do it yourself!

Good luck to all.

I decided pretty early on that I was going to do the work myself, but I was also going to hire a lawyer as a backup. I wanted someone to double check my paperwork, someone who could give me credible advice that was specific to the consulate my fiancee would interview at, and someone who could help my fiancee prepare for the interview.

Like most of us, I imagine, I spent a lot of time searching the web for information and resources, and I came across Mr. Lolly's website. I was impressed by all of the testimonials so I filled in the online question form and sent it off to him. He responded the following day and addressed my questions in pretty good detail. By that time I'd already been lurking on this forum for about a month, so I had an idea what the consulate in Vietnam was like, and Mr. Lolly's knowledge of the consulate in HCM seemed to agree with what I'd read here. I answered his email with a few more questions, and again he responded the following day.

I had a reasonably good feeling about Mr. Lolly, but ultimately decided not to hire him. His firm has international staff in Moscow, which is good for someone with a Russian fiance, but not much help for someone with a fiancee in southeast Asia or the Pacific. This meant any help he gave my fiancee in preparing for the interview was going to be by email, which really wasn't what I was looking for. I ended up hiring a lawyer with an office and staff in Vietnam.

If you want to hire a lawyer to do everything that's up to you. In this case, you're going to spend as much time gathering and forwarding documents to the lawyer as you would if you were doing it yourself. As others have said, lawyers do make mistakes, and those mistakes can cost you time. In the end, it's your life that will be adversely affected and not theirs. I suggest you take the lead role, and leverage the attorneys skill and experience while you gain the knowledge. This increases the chances that you'll catch each others mistakes.

Hey I will help you for half of what the attorney will do....you would have better luck suing me than him if you weren't happy with the results.
