You should be receiving your EAD soon. Apply for SSN the very same day. Start off with the Learners permit as well. Get a copy from the DMV office or visit the online DMV site from your State and go through the online tests.

Hi

I just received the Advance Parole (I-512L, Authorization for Parole of an Alien Into the United States).

I am still unable to see something on the USCIS Case Online.

I have a question regarding the I-512L paper itself: on the right lower corner should be any stamp? I do not have any. I have that dry stamp (that type of stamp that has no ink; it just leaves marks on the paper) but it's on my picture.

Can somebody describe me how other papers are?

Are there any risks getting in/out of US using it? I did not overstay; my I-94 expiry was March 19, 2009 and i sent the papers on March 2nd.

Thanks

Congrats Dracosa on the AP. I didnt apply for an AP as i had a overstay. But then I dnt really know how it affects.............personally through my research, you shd nt have any trouble getting back with the AP unless you have a overstay. I wd expect some more imputs here.

So your AP came almost 1 month 16 days after your biometrics. Hope my EAD comes this week.

Congrats Tommy&Emma! You are indeed lucky. Just be prepared and dont sweat too much about it. Too much pressure, leads you to making silly mistakes. Curious to know, if you were here on a K visa or?......

dracoasa: You probably received two AP letters just as I did. The stamp box remains empty untill you plan on traveling and the Immigration officer will stamp them when you are leaving the port of exit. He will retain one copy and give you the other one. Even I don't have an overstay, but from what I have read, my conclusion is to wait it out and not use the AP unless its absolutely necessary. They can create problems on your re-entry if they want to. Apparently, having an AP doesn't give us the RIGHT to be allowed back in. Hope that helped:)

Thank you, yours must be on the way too; as we see, is like no logic in this AOS process. I was thinking being from Vermont , being a small state they moved faster, but also in San Diego and Phoenix, they moved fast too. So who knows why.

Thanks! Everyone! I did not expect it would move so fast either. I did not even have my EAD and AP yet.

What gets me nervous is that Tommy and I are normally not living together. He started his business in China after we got married and I am still studying for my degrees in US. He comes to see me several times a year. We do have joint tax return, joint accounts. I do not know what else I can provide to say: we are real married. We ahve been married for 4 years now.

Anybody have good idea about that? Thanks! God bless us!

Ever since I filed my paperwork, I've been avoiding to check my cases online because a lot of people haven't been able to and been really worried about it. Case Status Online is not very accurate. They don't update it very often at all. But I couldn't resist the urge to check it (even though I knew my cases wouldn't show up), so I've been checking it almost everyday for a while. Just now, I checked it again, thinking that my cases wouldn't show up. To my surprise, it showed that my EAD card production was ordered yesterday! Yay! I-485 or I-130 is still not online. Well, at least I know I'll receive my EAD card in the mail soon. I am so glad because my current one will expire on the 22nd of this month! Phew. I'm so relieved. :dancing:

First time posting, but I've been lurking for a while.

My wife just got our interview notice: June 8 in San Diego. USCIS received our packet on 3/29 (NOA1 4/3) and my wife's biometrics appointment was on 4/23. Can't believe our interview is only a month away! This is happening so fast!

AOS:

03-20-2009: Married in San Diego (wife: F-1 visa and Chinese citizen, husband: US citizen)

03-29-2009: USCIS received AOS packet

04-03-2009: NOA1 issued

04-23-2009: Biometrics appointment

05-20-2009: EAD received

06-08-2009: Interview, approved

07-06-2009: GC received

ROC:

03-09-2011: I-751 and supporting documentation mailed to CSC via first class mail

03-14-2011: I-751 delivered (5 days to go 55 miles!)

03-16-2011: Check cleared

03-18-2011: NOA received, one year GC extension

04-04-2011: Early biometrics in San Marcos, CA

05-12-2011: Card production ordered! (no email notification, though)

05-17-2011: Approval letter received (approval date 5/12)
