and they must be xerox copies... not minolta, toshiba, canon or any others... as xerox is the official supplier of copies to the USCIS

YMMV

This question made me lol...I've seen people asking what sort of envelope to send their petition in, but never what sort of plastic bag to put the photos in.

I wonder if USCIS know how paranoid they're making everyone? ;)

:P The plastic bags in the Guide are recommended so that when you attach the photos you do not have to "physically" attach them to something (thus possibly damaging the photo). Items like paper clips are not as secure and the photo may fall out when the adjudicator is handling the paperwork. Ultimately this is just a general recommendation on assembly and people can use any secure method that does not damage the photo :).

Hang in there... Every day is one step closer!

My responses are derived from personal experiences and from the knowledge I have gained from others over time. I do my best but on occasion I could be wrong. Be warned! I am not a lawyer, I am an Engineer!

The way I think of it is if it's not part of the official instructions, then use your best judgement. If it's something that is not in the instructions but could potentially delay the processing of your petition, then ask here.

The guides are meant to assist, not make everyone paranoid. Just remember that not everyone who files uses the VJ guides. :)
