So The days of filling out a green I-94 piece of paper (commonly thought of as the Visa Waiver form) on a plane for entry into the US have ended. We now need to fill in an online request to enter the States, at least three days before travelling otherwise you'll be turned away at US immigration.

The form is called the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation form or ESTA for short. And here is the website;

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html?_fl...A5-9D0721EFE754

My question is this, I will be travelling to the States in May on a K-1 visa to get married in June and was wondering do I need to fill this in, or will whatever is in my brown envelope I can't open contain sufficient information? My Concern is filling it in and not needing to and causing harm to my entrance to the states, or not filling it in and causing harm.

• You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.

• You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.

• Your travel is for 90 days or less.

• You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

Can anyone please shed any light on this?

Cheers,

Shaun.

My concern is I don’t think I fall under any of these categories/“options”?

As you will be entering the US on a K1 visa you no longer have to register on esta as that is for VWP.

The brown envelope contains everything that immigration needs for you to enter on your visa.

I entered on my K1 visa 28th Feb and had no problems.

Yes, but under the pre-requisites listed in the OP, a K-1 does fall into one of those cateogries...

• You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.

• You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.

• Your travel is for 90 days or less.

• You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

As a side note, please be aware anyone travellling under the VWP will still need to fill out a green I-94W as well as complete the online ESTA form. They haven't got rid of the green form just yet.

Thanks guys, just to confirm though, I do not need to fill the form in even though I was mistaken and it does fall into the category "You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa."

No as you are not visiting the US as a tourist. You are staying for longer than 90 days, you are not travelling for business or pleasure and you have a visa in your passport.

There are individuals who have just done POE in the UK forum. For peace of mind you could ask in there and see if they filled out the form.

but you will now prepare the white I-94 upon arrival

Which I fillled out anyway, correct? (sorry it's been ages since I went to the states)

No, you would have previously filled out a green I-94W and a white/blue customs form when you visited under the VWP. When you enter on the K-1 you will need the white I-94 and the white/blue customs form.

laura is right but if you are confused at the airport ask someone, they will know which form you need for a k-1 visa.

Don't they give you white blue or whatever is the color I-94 on the plane as well as the Customs form?

I had to explain to the flight attendant that no, I DON'T need the I-94 as I have the CR-1 visa - she gave me one anyway and I just left it in the seat.
