That reminds me, I have to figure out what im going to do for my taxes. File as Single? or Married Filing Jointly? or File for an extension? What to do, what to do...

HUM???? More stuff to keep you up at night. As if this process does not do it on its own. I'm lucky did my taxes Jan. went to Paris in Feb. and spent tax return.

Did you file as single or married filing jointly?

Que, you can file as married seperate, but you will need an w-7 for her. or you can file single.

i filed HOH, worked like a charm. we are "considered unmarried"

check this :)

btw, hey everyone!

be back in a few to catch up :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks that link helps. My only concern is that if I file as single, will it adversely impact my wife at the interview. Since the inteview is after April 15th I wonder if they will ask for the current years tax returns....

I had the same thoughts, fortunatly for me.. i claimed yazied as a personal exemption and you dont need to include a social when filing HOH, so he is listed on the 1040a and he has it for the interview.

Que, there is a very strong chance they will request your 2008 tax info. there were quite a few posters in jan and feb that were granted the visa but wouldnt issue until the sponsors' tax info was turned in.

I think if you filed single and just made sure that your wife was prepared to answer if it was questioned "my husband was unable to obtain an IIN for me in time, so he filed single and will ammend the return once i get a social security number", it would be fine.

I would not want to file for an extension and have to tell them that you havent filed yet. wait, you could bring your w-2's and proof of the filed extension and you might be ok.

Yeah, im going to see my accountant tomorrow. If that doesn't work, i'm off the H&R Block this week. I don't think I qualify for HOH, because I would need to pass one more test, then my spouse not living with me.

The alternative is definitely to file as single, and then amend.....not preferred though.

Did you file as single or married filing jointly?

Married, even though we re-married in Feb. "Long story" cause year before that we thought we were legally married and I filed married then so I did it again this year filed as married. Confusing, bet your head is spinning. Right??

If your married, file as married, but dont file jointly.

Why not file jointly? I'm trying to find out if I need to get a Tax ID number for my wife.

We filed 1040A with me signing a w7 and send it in together, my husband filled married jointly

As for my papers

still not reviewed

I did get a guy that said to me give it a week

and call back, after he said the wait 6 to 8 weeks #######!

Thanks Steve. Im about to give everyone my case number so we can all call randomly until they scan it in.

Then maybe they will be sick of hearing my case number and just go dig it out.

I talked with Caroline. She is on her way home... actually, she is probably home now.

She has alot to catch up on.

I went to this little pizza pub near my house. I never went there before. It was very cool. The Miller lite Hoes were handing out free beer and there was live music. Just this guy playing the guitar and singing and he was damn good. I was with a 23 year old and a 26 year old. they didn't know the music but I did. It was Fuel, and Stone Temple Pilots and alot of other ####### I love. I can't think of the band names... GRRRR anyway, I liked it there. I will definately go back. Tonight ( cuz its Saturday) I am going to a latin club called La Caretta. I don't dance but I love to watch My husband dances really well. He always asks me why I dont' dance.. I tell him because I am an american and I wasn't raised to do it. HAHAHAHA I have 3 left feet. I really wish I could though.

So I should say that I'm coming, but show up a day or two earlier?? If I do that, she is going to figure out im coming earlier cause I won't be reachable for 16-18 hours. Any suggestions??

Showing up early is a great idea...I guess you have to get on a shortest flight to India :P Where are you flying into Delhi or Bombay?
