The real funny thing is, I wasn't "looking" when Tim came into my life, and he wasn't "looking" either. Our relationship just happened.

Same here. I told Leidys, "I don't want anything serious. In 4 days, I am returning to the USA. All I wanted was someone to have fun with.

Waldo -- So, does your SO speak English? Working for the airlines, do you speak Spanish? I was in Peru a few years ago, and it was difficult if I hadn't spoken some Spanish to get around.

Love is very strange, recall like it was yesterday, the very first time I called my wife, I couldn't understand a word she was saying and she couldn't understand a word I was saying, but we both new we wanted to pursue our relationship. That phone conversation, if you could call it that, lasted nearly an hour. It's like we could communicate without words.

Why couldn't you have found someone who lives around here?

united-states-map.gif

It happens to me every time I mention Leidys to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

What about you and your SO?

All the time.I've learned not to let it bother me.It was expecially interesting when a co-worker told me that he's sick and tired of all these foreigners scooping up "his American women." As if all the women in the USA are his

QUOTE (Tsup2 @ Nov 20 2008 @ 01:47 PM)

I too would never consider marrying another American woman after my personal experience and those of so many others I know.

When I was single and looking this singles group had a movie night nearby. Basically, you show up, pick a movie to see, have dinner w/ people, then see your movie. I sat near these three late-30's/early-40's single women (none very attractive) and listened to them whine about men for 30 minutes. One of them had a b/f, and after describing all the nice things he did for her the other two told her she could do better cause the guy didn't drive a nice enough car.

That pretty much sums up what kind of American woman I found locally. Chatting online I met much better people, obviously. :)
