Getting out of work and the K1 process are two seperate things. People go off sick all the time. By the way....this process is enough to give anyone anxiety. And as for the FMLA laws, no idea what you are talking about. It the UK, if you are sick it is not a crime, but then as a country that actually has employment laws and human rights, for the purpose of seeing your fiance or family issues you are most likely to be granted time off one way or another without HAVING to resort to telling white lies.

FMLA is not approved for your common cold...it is for documented long-term illnesses anyways, but others' abuse of the system doesn't give anyone else the green light to do an end-run around the system because he hasn't seen his fiancee in 6 months.

Right, after you've justified for 4-5 posts you clarify that its allowed in the UK? As you stated, you have no clue what FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) but you suggest the OP find a sympathetic doctor to give him a note for a bogus psychological affliction? Lacking full knowledge of said subject, perhaps no suggestion would have been better. The end.

OMG people, how old are we? I went through this immigration thing for 2 years and there is no way I would have been so irresponsible to have gone to the point of lying to see him. I either took my scheduled vacation to see him, or I stayed working. Last time I checked that constitutes a responsible adult.

As was stated, if you really can't wait then take leave unpaid, but don't abuse the system that is set in place to assist the truly needy when the economy is already in the crapper.
