I am beside myself with worry, as we are having a big wedding reception in 3 weeks and people flying in from all over the place. The way the letter is worded, says I won't be here for the renewal of vows and reception.

Well, how did you first get married?

Planning a wedding AFTER your AOS interview would look suspicious to me too.

Oh, cut it out, dmartmar.

There's nothing wrong with having a wedding reception after the AOS interview. No one knows when that interview is going to happen when they make those plans, and by planning a reception well after the non-USC has arrived in the country, they're actually doing precisely what the DoS recommends—DON'T make any solid plans until, at the very least, the visa is in hand.

God, I swear you just look for things to pick on.

I agree with pax. Cut it out, dmartmar. Lots of people do this type of thing. My husband and I have been married 4 years for God's sake, and we've talked a lot about having a wedding reception soon since we got married in Mexico and didn't get to have one up here with my friends and extended family. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'd go as far as to say it actually looks good. After all you're investing money in showing your relationshipi, you'll be meeting all the family, etc. etc. Give it up and go away and leave someone already in a stressed position alone.

To the OP, I wish the best of luck in a quick resolution to this. It sounds like you've gotten a lot of good advice so far.

move to an area that is over populated with the illegal mexicans no one will bother you, they wont pick you up, I C E doesnt want to be bothered, double standards being used by our govt!!!! not fair so just play by their rules they use for illegal mexicans you will be better off!!!they have more rights than the legal us citizens

hi,

My personal request is that you not make stereotypical statements like "illegal mexicans". I am 100% sure that you do not know which brown man is mexican and which is not, or the legal status he holds.

Your post is offensive.

You go girl. I totally agree with you, and I'm sure my LEGAL Mexican husband would also.

UHHH? From what Lisa's timeline says she didn't even go to the actual K1 interview right? The timeline stops after NOA 2 and then states, that they are visiting one another. SHe also said that they are not married yet so I guess this should be in the K1 Forum or am I wrong? It's early in the morning so please forgive me if I am wrong.

EDIT: Sorry, my bad I WAS wrong. Got the timelines mixed up with another member.

Lisa, I am so sorry about what happened. I can only agree with the others, try to reopen the case and all the best for you. I had a returned letter myself and was panicking cause I thought it was the AOS invitation but it wasn't (still don't know what the letter was about cause it never made it to me). I wish you all the best. good luck.

I agree 100%. You would think that people form VisaJourney more than anybody else in the world would know that all Spanish people are not Mexican and all Mexican people are not illegal.

Besides, I think entirely too many of our societal problems are blamed on illegal immigrants.

I wonder why the USCIS does not use freakin certified mail...

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

This is so disturbing to hear about. It makes me so angry that USCIS treats people like this. We them lots of money to handle our cases. They tell us to use certified mail, etc, and yet they use a first class stamp to send us important information, ie NOA's. Then, if for some reason the USPS loses the mail, then we are asked to leave the country. Makes you want to fly out to Lee's Summit and demand to speak to the person who sent the NOA which never arrived. I think everyone who goes through this process from K visas to Naturalization experiences something that went wrong, or unexpected. However, most things big or small are usually fixable, but with extra time and stress. I have learned to not let anything about this huge process of becoming a citizen to worry or stress me. Just wish some of these people who came across our cases cared more about their jobs, or at least the people they are trying to serve. I beleive most people working at USCIS love their jobs, but some just treat each paper that comes across their desk as another piece of paper, when actually it's a person's life they are handling. And that person's life usually involves other's lives. Okay, Im done for now.

And u know what? U are damn right. I wish everything went smoothly for everyone, but unfortunately its never like that. My advice is: CONTACT a SENATOR right away, right away. Contact more senators/representative because only a few of them might be helpufl.

I wish u my best. Good luck!!!!

TroyB63, apparently they only mail the one notice and they don't follow it up at all. So, if you don't receive that very first one, basically, you're screwed. Unfortunately, you will have to pay the $385.00 to have your case re-opened. Once we did that our case was opened again pretty quickly. To update our situation, we finally received notification of our interview in SF last week. Hopefully, 18 September will be the last time we have to deal with the San Francisco office for a while.

Good luck TroyB63. Let us know what happens.
