My name is Karima and I just wanted to introduce myself. I was told this website by a friend and I am in search of alot of informatin since I am just beginning this journey. My fiance lives in Morocco and I am going there in February to meet him for the forst time and to marry my soul mate. :wow: I am trying to do this without the assitance of a lawyer but scared to try it any other way. I have been told that if he is denied he is pretty much forever denied. Denied meaning if his visa is rejected. And we were told to fly to Cyprus off the coast of Syria to get married because we will more likely be approved there. But I was then again told, that if he is a resident of Morocco then it does not matter where we get married, he will have to get married in the country (Morocco) that he resides in. Completely confused in what to do now. Can anyone offer me any advice from your experiences? Thanks! Karima

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks for all your welcomes!! In response to the question how long will I be staying... I plan on staying 2.5 to 3 weeks. Does it take a while to get papers to get married? Is this something he can take care of before I get there? The marriage papers that is? Thanks! Missy

07/28/11 USCIS cashed check

07/30/11 Recieved NOA1 and Biometrics letter

08/24/2011 Biometrics

08/25/2011 RFE sent to us for some info we've already sent in

08/30/2011 sent in the rest of info USCIS asked for

09/13/2011 went to congressman's office to sign papers for expedite of work permit, due to financial hardship

09/15/2011 Work permit expedite approved!! He can finally find a job!

09/24/2011 work permit arrives

09/26/2011 Apply for social security number!

09/30/2011 Letter is sent for interview

11/07/2011 INTERVIEW!!!

Its 2012 and still no approval! Still waiting

01/27/2012 Letter sent stating that file was sent on for more review :(

usually it takes 2-3 weeks just to get thru all the paper works to get married, some things u can send ahead and have translated but like mine was 2 1/2 weeks in example and i also had sent things ahead. I would say go meet and get to know, then return to marry. Maybe the engagement party the first time.
