I have read in this forum that many interviewer ask "How many times has your fiance visited you?" I have only visited my fiance once and was wondering if this could be a problem? I received NOA1 in September and hope to see NOA2 by February.

Thanks

Tim

i don't think it matters how many times you visit your fiance... once is enough if you have enough evidence to show them, i.e. loads of photos, phone logs, emails, any other modes of communication between the both of you... as in my case, my fiance and i met only 3 times, each lasting around 2 weeks... we sent a few pics and a lot of email.. with plane tickets, hotel receipts... i like to keep everything lol... so it's good enough for us to get approved :)

*good luck*

If you've met once in the two years before filing, that's all that's technically required, however lots of people make numerous trips, if they can which might help bolster the "bona fide relationship" aspect of this process. Some people's second visit is at the interview time, and if they're allowed to attend the interview with the beneficiary, that's a plus. Some Embassies/Consulates are different in how many times you've visited as adding credence to your relationship. Hopefully someone from your fiances country can respond.

All the best for a speedy journey!

Another visit would certainly show that your intentions are sincere.

Number of visits and total time together helps show a bona fide relationship on BOTH SIDES. In the higher fraud countries, like Thailand the concern is about both parties, not just the petitioner.

Nobody can tell you how much of anything will be enough but the best evidence of bona fides is time together.

And you may not need to worry about it. On the other hand, you may find yourselves severely disappointed in the initial outcome of your visa process. You've just now filed a petition, so have little basis for concluding you or anybody else will have a successful outcome. The totality of circumstances will rule the day at the interview, not one data point.

The general idea here is to be helpful. If your comments are not intended to provide a helpful answer to a question then its best to avoid the possibility they may be taken that way.

Lot's people endure great heartache in the visa process due to things they never thought would be important, things the didn't worry about but should have been dealing with.

It's often critical to notice the applicable country.

Australia is not a tough country from which to obtain a visa but if there are no further visits the interview will occur when you haven't seen each other in about two years. Does that look like a bona fide relationship to you?

It might but do you see how additional time together would change the picture?

I appreciate all the responses...we all do what we can. My fiance and I have a relationship that we involves communicating everyday by phone, YM and texting. Like many people, I work and get limited vacation time. Once a year is about all I can manage for a two-week stretch. I would hope that is understood by the interviewer. I guess we will have to try and provide amble evidence of our relationship outside of a visit more than once a year. I was just hoping to get confirmation from someone in a similar situation (fiance in Thailand) that had success despite only 1 or 2 visits in the last 2 years.

Thanks for all your input.
