n perhaps further evidence Pat Robertson has gone bye-bye now, the religious broadcaster says he has leg-pressed 2,000 pounds. The host of the "700 Club" and self-proclaimed founder of the "2,000-Pound Club," revealed his feat of strength on the Christian Broadcasting Network Web site.

The Web site posting does not say when the impressive press took place, but a CBN spokeswoman released photos to The Associated Press that are said to show Robertson lifting 2,000 pounds in 2003 when he was 73. He is now 76.

Shockingly, there are some skeptics of the one-ton testimonial. Clay Travis of CBS SportsLine.com called the 2,000-pound assertion impossible in a column, pointing out that the leg-press record for football players at Florida State University is 665 pounds less.

"Where in the world did Robertson even find a machine that could hold 2,000 pounds at one time?" Travis asked. It is possible Robertson could have used Rick Hummel's overstuffed laptop bag to accomplish the feat.

Andy Zucker, a strength-training coach at Old Dominion University, said leg presses of more than 1,000 pounds represent "a Herculean effort, and 2,000 pounds is a whole other story." But CBN spokeswoman Angell Vasko, while acknowledging she has not actually seen Robertson lift the 2,000 pounds, said it does not come as "a huge shocker" that he could.

The CBN site attributes Robertson's energy in part to his "age-defying protein shake," which contains things like soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate, apple cider vinegar and - oh, boy - flaxseed oil. Apparently, Robertson also maintains a diet that eliminates sugars, saturated fats and Kryptonite.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

This guy is weirdo times 10 but as a former powerlifter, 2,000 pounds doesn't really sound like a lot-not something I ever did or could do, but I did quite a bit of weight at 130 pounds-more than 500 I remember. There were guys who could do at least twice that.
