Hi ! Question on submitting proof of ongoing relationship with my I-129F emails?

I've been emailing my fiancée in Portuguese (with the help of Google Translate). I'm going to submit

those emails as evidence to support our relationship. Should I enclose a translation ?

Just found this great resource and I think it's great ! Have been reading though this site as much

as possible - Thanks for all the great help !!

John

1) Why will you submit e-mails? It is not required and may be more hassle than it is worth...

2) The USCIS requires any evidence that is to be considered that is not in English to have an accompanied "certified" translation...

We did not submit any e-mails with our application, as the only proof that they require at this stage is proof of having met, so we just sent in copies of e-tickets from our flights and copies of our passports we did throw in a few photos for luck

The e-mails etc we will save for the interview as proof of ongoing relationship.

Good luck with your application

You can save those e-mails for the interview which the CO should be able to read in Portuguese.

I am almost ready to send my I-129F and I have included some emails too. My reason is that right in the k-1 guide and again on the example I-129F cover letter it lists evidence of ongoing relationship. Though perhaps not necessary, I do not see any harm whatsoever in including them, and they very well could help.

As the other posters have stated, they should be in English.

Well then you should explain the "I do not see any harm....." to that poor individual that included e-mails where his SO and himself referred to each other as "husband and wife" in the e-mails. It created a big problem for them and caused a huge delay as they had to prove beyond a doubt that they were NOT married.

If they are perfectly innocent emails then I don't see the harm in submitting one or two. I submitted one. It referenced a trip to Bahrain that I took to see my OH so it kinda tied in with the rest of the evidence. It also showed evidence that Tom was in Bahrain due to the numbers and address in his signature block matching the details on the I-129F.

I agree with the above. I see no harm. The more evidence the better. If you submit enough evidence along with I-129f now, the CO probably not going ask more at the interview. The important thing you want to show the CO about your true relationship.

We submitted a few selected e-mails in English, but I am sure you can print a few Portuguese e-mails with a translated page attached (use something free like babel fish to translate). Another thing we did was print the list of all the e-mails subject lines (which also show the dates). It showed that we communicated on a daily basis. Lastly, we used Skype to speak on the phone and the Skype Export utility to extract the call history.

Best of luck to you!

If you want it treated as evidence, no you cannot...... All evidence provided that is not in English must be accompanied bu a "certified" translation.

If you don't want it treated as evidence then why provide it?

Would really not go as far as including a bunch of mail printouts. Just something which can be looked over reasonably quickly, apart from the flight coupons a copy of the passport page with all the stamps and a few photos of you two together should be satisfying for them and be quite to the point
