thanks fwaguy and Pushbrk

I will speak to my fiance about it, he texts me to wake me up when he gets in from work and I call him back so I have always done the calling but I will look into other methods that provide phone records that will be acceptable to the authorities and I will speak to him to see if he can start doing the calling

I pay £0.02 a minute which I thought was good. It just seemed fair that we split the costs as he has to pay to receive calls, which we dont over here in the uk

thaks for the advise

Shaz

Well if he has a landline he doesn't have to pay to receive calls. And as for a cell phone, he only uses up minutes to receive calls.

Unfortunately he does not have a land line, and we do talk for quite some time which uses up his minutes very quickly and the free minutes are only during certain hours on his plan.

Better get him to look into it

Save those phone cards and take them with you in the interview.

I save every single one but in my case the 1 800 numbers show in my cell phone bill, but hey i also use different phones also, I still save them as adviced by my lawyer.

It's better than nothing but it only proves you've been making a lot of calls to somebody. Nobody knows whether it's to your fiance, a drug cartel or your terrorist cell. There are better ways to make phone calls.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Me and my fiance have been in a this relationship for more than 5 years and we have been talking on the phone alot(from usa to india). But I have always been using the one time use phone cards and dont have any records of calls directly from my phone to her phone. Can this be a problem in showing our on going relationship.

If you have nothing else, then yes it's going to be a problem. You don't have a timeline so I don't really know at what point in the process you're at. But I would recommend you stop using phone cards and start using your phone directly so that you can get phone records. Also, write letters to each other. Those as well as photos, chat logs, emails and any proof of either one of you traveling to visit the other will help to prove the ongoing relationship.

I will be filing for the k1 visa in december of this year so i havent done anything yet. We do have some gifts that were exchanged email logs and travel proofs since 2003. Also have pictures. I have started to make phone call directly from today as well but my question now is since i will be showing calls made from september of this year and applying in december this year, will that be too "short" of call logs? I can show proof of phone cards purchased for the past 1 year but i cant show exact details of those phone cards i use to use. Please share your thoughts

Thank You

When you mail in your petition in December, you'll need to include evidence of having met at least once in the past two years. Your best evidence of this is passport stamps, boarding passes etc. You could include a picture or two of you two together.

Evidence of proof of relationship is much later in the process when your fiance goes to the Embassy for the interview. At that time, in addition to financial information, you should then bring evidence of a bona fide relationship that which could include pictures, emails, chat logs, letters, receipt of gifts, telephone logs, greeting cards, engagement ring recipts...a whole host of things. Telephone logs are often used. They are only one of many different types of evidence used. If you want to use them, knowing you'll need a sampling for your fiance's interview some time down the road, look into getting a good telephone plan, or a phone card that allows you to print a listing of where the calls originated, and where you're calling to. There is nothing to say you can't use a phone card, but make sure it's a card where you can print off the call logs.

I would like to start by saying thanks to everyone for helping me.

I have passport stamps from 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, few emails, pictures as proof. I will also have telephone call records from this month. Does this put me in a strong situation?

Please let me know thank you again

I am trying to absorb as much information as i can before I apply for my fiance.

If you file in December, and you are starting to have telephone calls that are recorded, you'll be fine! The stamps in your passport, and if you have boarding passes, or receipts from her country during your travels there are wonderful primary evidence pieces. Your ongoing relationship are evidenced by emails, greeting cards, telephone calls, visits, pictures.

Can I ask why you're waiting until December to file? Looks like you have enough evidence to file now.

The reason may not make sense to some of you but I am saving up money for downpayment on a house so when my fiance arrives here i can give her, her own house rather than moving in at my parents house. By applying in december it just gives me some more time to achieve my goal thats all

thank you again

We only sent one phone bills, some used calling cards, a few e-mails, pictures, etc etc.....a little bit of everything. OP, it sounds like you have a lot of proof of ongoing relationship - and remember that proof of having met is most important at this time.

But it's not a bad idea to send copies of the calling cards, that's what we did. AND we sent an AMEX statement or two proving that we had bought calling cards on-line.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

What a lovely reason for not filing until December! :)

Not everyone calls their partners on the telephone. Not only is it expensive, but some times during a working day the time differences make it hard to chat for a long time. I call mainly at the weekends. Like me, many have pay-and-go mobiles. I have no bill. Am I worried? Not really.

Don't worry.

Whatever "proof of relationship" that you can provide, I recommend that you include SOME (not an overwhelming amount) in your I-129F filing in December. Some consulates will refuse to accept such evidence in interviews and will claim that you don't have enough evidence, and will either refuse to issue a visa or will command a second, "joint" interview. If SOME "proof of relationship" is included in your initial filing, USCIS will send it to the consulate, and the consulate cannot deny its existence.

If phone logs are a challenge, consider e-mail or chat logs, or a couple of sample e-mails per month over a span of time. Too-personal information can be blacked out with a marker pen.

Including some extra evidence in your I-129F filing is not required for USCIS purposes, yet it can pay off handsomely later, during the consular process.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
