Why are some liberals so pissed about McCain's VP selection? Nervous, maybe?

I tend to think that his choice was based on the fact that HE is the one that is nervous.

You (O supporter) say nervous, others say smart. See how that works? :P

Smart and doesn't know how to use a computer?

my dad was pretty smart but he was inept on a computer. just because someone does not know how to use a computer that does not instantly make them dumb.

I didn't say dumb...just imagine running for president with no computer skills.

And he needs computer experience for wh,at exactly? Peace talks on IM? Discussing national security issues over hotmail? Booking his flights to Europe?

Apparently some think we need a guy like this to run for president...

Not quite, but I do believe that the president of the USA in the 21st century should be very in touch with the ways in which people obtain and use information today, and how information is disseminated much more quickly and through many different mediums than it was 10, 20, and 30+ years ago. Being out of touch with modern technology in this day and age is really being out of touch with the ways in which modern society works. To say governing this country and the ability to understand and use popular modern-day technology are two separate issues is quite off-base, in my opinion.

Sorry Gary I think you missed my point ! I confirmed the point that McCains "experience" does not equal good judgement. I called this decision of his the double whammy of bad judgement coupled with negligible experience. I do believe the Obama /Biden ticket wins this hands down in all departments. I am pleased with his pick as an independant Obama just got a bigger boost than he had from the last four days wooohoooo

McCains choice shows me he has very good judgment. Palin is a great conservative. Obama's choice shows me he knows he has no experience and needs Biden to shore him up. The candidate of "change" picked a Washington insider because he knows that his resume is very thin. So much for "change".

Gary

With all due respect, being a US Senator is an entirely different ballgame then being a mayor of a small town in Alaska (population approximately 7,000) and a first term governor of the second smallest state in the union (approximately 700,000). Further, Mrs. Palin has had unprecedented budget surplus' to work with during her two years. Anyone can govern with an extra billion in the bank.

She was elected on a campaign platform preaching open and transparent government, and little else. She got hammered in debates because she was evasive and uninformed, yet kept preaching that she was for open government. She never answered important policy questions, yet rode her looks and charm into office. And I'm not sure to this day, what she stands for. Especially after her mishandling of her firing the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety.

She's a very nice woman, don't get me wrong. But I'm not sure what McCain was thinking with this pick when, if he just wanted a woman, could have went with someone like Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas.

Why are some liberals so pissed about McCain's VP selection? Nervous, maybe?

Very nervous. After watching her govern the state that I have lived in nearly my entire life, the thought of her taking over should something happen to McCain is terrifying.

That fear you have....is very real to me (& I am not the only one). I am THAT afraid of Obama & he is #1, not #2.

Why? Illinois is not that bad off unless you know something I don't. Well at least we got something else out of you... fear. Right up the Republican playbook, too.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Interesting perspective coming from someone who knows more about her politically than the rest of us. Thanks for sharing that.

Obama is from my state and I can say the same about him. Does that still make it "interesting" to you? It's just one persons opinion.

You'd have to include Peoria in that one, since he's one of our State Senators. Which means if its that bad with him as Senator, then that whole business yesterday of particular regions of the state doing pretty good are not really sensical.

{since one of the hangups in the Republican campaign are the "$1Billion" in earmarks for Illinois with Obama in the Senate}

Seriously? Talk about tunnel vision. Hey, if it works for you, fine. I prefer to do my own research, not go by one VJer's word.

Yeah, you know it does seem to me that up until 1980 Presidents were required to type 60 words per minute since many of the forms they were signing would be typewritten.

That's probably why Bush Sr didn't get reelected.

Now can we stop the whole "can he use a PC " thing now? It's silly.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
