......

My only comments to this whole thread is - McCain has just nullified any arguments he and Republican Party make about Obama not being qualified to be President or lacking the experience. IMO, McCain's camp knows that if he's got a chance at winning, he has to garner enough of Hillary's supporters. I think he would have done better by choosing Gov. Pawlenty, but now that the choice was made, I look forward to the upcoming debates.

ootaay if you say so.

IMO most Hillary supporters that vote for McCain were going to do so anyway....mostly out of spite for the childish way Obama supporters have acted during and after the dem race. thats what made me dislike Obama so much. but, McCain insured he pulls a few more away (male Hillary supporters) w/ a MILF on the ticket.

Why are some liberals so pissed about McCain's VP selection? Nervous, maybe?

I tend to think that his choice was based on the fact that HE is the one that is nervous.

You (O supporter) say nervous, others say smart. See how that works? :P

Smart and doesn't know how to use a computer?

my dad was pretty smart but he was inept on a computer. just because someone does not know how to use a computer that does not instantly make them dumb.

I didn't say dumb...just imagine running for president with no computer skills.

This is relevant, not because he isn't a skilled computer user, but because he has been so far removed from reality. Think about it: computers have been common household appliances, so to speak, for at least 15 years. Do you want a president that is 15 years out of date?

What about a President who hasn't even been in politics for 15 years?

And he needs computer experience for what exactly? Peace talks on IM? Discussing national security issues over hotmail? Booking his flights to Europe?

i'd call it a plus, he won't be surfing the net for porn :jest:

I hardly think he types his own Word documents, puts together his own Powerpoint presentations and establishes his own network.

Wouldn't be entirely on their own in the White House....Isn't there a bunch of aides and goffers around, or did I miss a Govt cut-back somewhere?

eta-As far as asking kids....It's not a kid we are electing, and I don't care if the Prez doesn't maintain his own Facebook profile.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

"Smart and doesn't know how to use a computer? "

meaning ... if you can't use a computer you can't be smart.

being smart and leadership skills are not about typing 30 wpm or greater and being able to type an e-mail when there are exec. secretaries

Sorry Gary I think you missed my point ! I confirmed the point that McCains "experience" does not equal good judgement. I called this decision of his the double whammy of bad judgement coupled with negligible experience. I do believe the Obama /Biden ticket wins this hands down in all departments. I am pleased with his pick as an independant Obama just got a bigger boost than he had from the last four days wooohoooo

McCains choice shows me he has very good judgment. Palin is a great conservative. Obama's choice shows me he knows he has no experience and needs Biden to shore him up. The candidate of "change" picked a Washington insider because he knows that his resume is very thin. So much for "change".

Gary

With all due respect, being a US Senator is an entirely different ballgame then being a mayor of a small town in Alaska (population approximately 7,000) and a first term governor of the second smallest state in the union (approximately 700,000). Further, Mrs. Palin has had unprecedented budget surplus' to work with during her two years. Anyone can govern with an extra billion in the bank.

She was elected on a campaign platform preaching open and transparent government, and little else. She got hammered in debates because she was evasive and uninformed, yet kept preaching that she was for open government. She never answered important policy questions, yet rode her looks and charm into office. And I'm not sure to this day, what she stands for. Especially after her mishandling of her firing the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety.

She's a very nice woman, don't get me wrong. But I'm not sure what McCain was thinking with this pick when, if he just wanted a woman, could have went with someone like Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas.

Why are some liberals so pissed about McCain's VP selection? Nervous, maybe?

Very nervous. After watching her govern the state that I have lived in nearly my entire life, the thought of her taking over should something happen to McCain is terrifying.

That fear you have....is very real to me (& I am not the only one). I am THAT afraid of Obama & he is #1, not #2.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
