Is age difference a rejection factor?

My NZ Fiancee and I have an 18 year Age difference. She is 22 and I am 40. We NEVER think about it when we are together, it literally and truly isnt a factor in love. However, its the only reason I can think of that we may be denied the Fiancee Visa.

How can we best prevent this? Or will it not be a concern?

(Oh, and btw, this site is FANTASTIC)

My husband and I have a 14.5 year difference. Wasn't a problem for us. The main thing is to prove your relationship is bona-fide when the interview time arrives.

My husband and I have a 16 year age difference, with him being older.

It has never come up at any stage of this process so far (we are now removing conditions).

Depends on the consulate (country) and whether the female or the male spouse is older.

Sad but true, older females seem to be under more scrutiny than older males...

The same could be said for older men-younger women too.

IMHO, if you can prove a bona-fide relationship...age isn't the huge issue many seem to think it is.

Welcome to VJ!!!

The age difference will not be a problem, as there are many many couples here on VJ with large age differences between them and they haven't had any problems.

Just provide evidence of a bona fide relationship and you'll be fine.

Good luck.

Not a concern at all. As long as both are over the legal age to marry. We have a 14 year difference and it is not a concern to us and was not to te embassy. Our visa is in hand! Alla will be here Sept. 11 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would age difference be a factor?

It would be wrong for USEM to tell a person whom or what age range or race one should marry.

BTW, I am 23 years older than my fiance.......

Doesn't matter. They may ask about it at the interview (they never did at our interview) just address it then... We have a 13 year age difference. I know people with as much as a 22 year age difference and never had any problems. best of luck

Shouldn't be a thing.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
