Proof of relationship for Interview (problem?)

I sent my fiancee a bunch of letters, but they all have my last name as her last name. I just did it to make her feel special and it felt good to see what her name would look like when we finally were married.

Do you think it might be a bad idea to bring these documents as proof to the interview. It would suck to come this far and find out that they reject our visa because they think we are married even tho legally, we are NOT!

Also, should we bring pictures of our wedding to the interview(non-legal wedding, just spiritual).

Just to clarify, legally we are NOT married.

thanks

Personally, if you have other proof of an ongoing relationship, I would not risk it. What is a cute 'joke' to you may look very different to someone at the consulate.

In my opinion, You should not bring any eveident that you are already married - even in a spiritual or traditional way. People view this thing diferently, they might think that only a ceremony are also a valid marriage then you have to have prove that you both are single to show them. I dont know about the letters and things... it's risky though, in my opinion

we had our traditional wedding too but we didnt say anything about it at the interview, and we are just fine.. He was there with me at the interview and that's enough prove :luv:

Wish you the best

Definitely don't take anything that even remotely looks like a "wedding". Why create any doubt at the interview which could stall your approval.

Just take any other evidence that you can to prove you have an ongoing relationship. And I wouldn't take the letters either..... it could be a "red flag".

Good luck.

I think bringing pictures of your spiritual wedding might be a little risky...

For what is about the letters are you aren t married yet i will kept them away to...

A little sign for them with a married name can make this difficult for you...

Do you have any e mails ? phone records ?

Good luck hope things go smooth.

I would say not to take anything that makes them think you guys are already married. I have heard one case that they rejected a visa because the couple had an engagement ceremony because of their religion and according to them it looked like a wedding. Just take pictures of you both together, with the family, friend, etc. proof of engagament, if you have the receipt of the ring, it would be good, then receipts of the gifts that you got her and things like that. Im sure everything will be ok, thats enough proof of relationship. I wish you good luck at your fiance's interview and let us know how it goes.

Agree.. too many people have had problems with things that even remotely suggest marriage.... leave it all in your memory box.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

dirtyd301,

I might be wrong, but the ring counts as an engagement ring, if they ask, that should be acceptable.

Anyone else agree?

Diana

I wouldn't worry about that.... people define the 'wedding ring finger' differently all over the world... My fiance wears a ring on the ring finger of his left hand to symbolize his commitment to his daughter from his previous marriage, so we are going to wear our wedding rings on our right hand... makes no difference to me which hand I wear my ring on.

Also remember your boarding passes and/or itineraries of your previous visits to Peru.... any receipts or statements of your credit card that show that you've been out of the country... pictures, cards and everything will be fine...

DON'T WORRY!!!!!

If it were a plain band, I would consider not wearing it because it would look too much like a wedding ring. But otherwise, I'd wear it.

Like others have said, I would not risk it with the USCIS what might appear sweet loving dovy between the 2 of you, might be perceived by the uscis as being husband and wife, There was a couple who India who was sent for Admnistrative review because the Embassy official thought their ENGAGEMENT looks more like a wedding, they had lot of stuff to prove their engagement, Rules of thumb

KEEP IT SIMPLE< if it's not going to help you in anyway

KEEP IT OUT

Good luck
