So, I got my case number from the check and it says that my NOA1 was mailed out on Aug 14th. Still nothing in the mail today. But, here's the catch...I mailed my package through genaral mail to the VSC (i know not advisable) and it got there TWO days later! Today makes the fifth day since they said they sent it out. Hum..... <_<

I'm surprising doing okay right now.

I think it's because I know I'll be flying out to the US in just over 2 weeks to visit Billy for a short trip (assuming no problems at POE!)... and also because (as you can understand), we've waited so long for our chance to file and then to actually get the package sent out, that just knowing our file is in Vermont is reassuring, and a relief. We're expecting our hardcopy NOA1 sometime in the next 2 weeks. Going to be keeping myself busy with work and research for my new psychology project until then.

I'm saving my worries for the NOA2 wait. :P

I've been wondering if my fiance can come visit me in the U.S. from India, but I've been hesitant to inquire about it because I don't want to screw anything up with the K1 being processed. Are you comfortable that it's safe and won't cause any issues for you? Did you get a tourist visa and what kind of questions were you asked in applying? I'm looking for any tips to make it safe and secure for her to come. I'd love for her to come for 6 months and stay with me while the K1 is being processed. That might be a stretch I know.

I feel a bit worried about my trip and not knowing whether POE will be alright, as I only would have been back in my home country for 7 weeks... I had spent 6 weeks there before that. Especially now that we have a K1 filed since I've read lots of horror stories about only getting a few visits a year permitted while it's pending...

However, I have some evidence with me that I'll be returning to the UK.

I have a contract for my apartment that runs out next year and registration letter from my university saying my course ends next year. I also have a return ticket and a letter from my fiancee saying that he doesn't intend for me to stay any longer than a few weeks. Yes, I'm neurotic but it makes me feel a lot more comfortable. :P I would be heartbroken if I was turned away.

The UK is in the VWP which means I don't need a visa to travel to the US. As long as your fiance has evidence that she's not planning to stay in the US, such as ties to her home country, it should be fine, though don't quote me on that as I don't know the full details of what's involved in the tourist visa application.

Just remember that she needs to be in India to complete her part of the visa process and that will surely be in less than 6 months!!

Yeah, I was relieved too when we got the check cashed! Congrats!

I think you guys are so brave for either not knowing exactly when you're going to see your fiance/e again.. or having to wait long periods of time. The only reason I try and see him every couple of months is because I'm a baby and can't handle it. I get my student timetable and student loan and away I book. Well done all of you for being so brave and patient.

Gemmie, have a wonderful trip! Sounds like you have a lot of evidence. :) Good luck!

Mark, they dont know about the K1 unless you tell them. ;) Getting a visa through the Embassy is a whole different ballgame though.

awww Michelle (((hugs))) I feel your pain girl.

You might have noticed from my previous timeline and first post here that Russell was denied entry last September. I had lived with him abroad with my children for a bit and then he was basically living here for over a year on the VWP ... not what it's meant for. ;) I was awaiting a long drawn out divorce so it was our only chance of being together. We would leave the Country and travel somewhere in the world for a few days every 90 days...yes, very expensive! Needless to say, on his last attempt in through Dublin, he was denied entry. It was hell... especially after living together for the good part of two years. :crying: Anyway, we've had just one three week visit since then. Russell can no longer use the VWP and we just knew they wouldn't give him a visa because he already showed intent. I have my work and my kids to consider and NZ isn't the kinda place you can go to for a weekend or even a few days. It's at least a couple thousand r/t and 20+ hours of just flight time sooooo no more visits. :( I've always envied those who could see each other so much as they wait this process out....lucky ducky's! Oh well.. we're almost there now! ;)

Yeah, it must have been very traumatic for you guys. At least you got to spend so much time living together so there won't be any surprises about what to expect when Russ comes over and you had time together as a "normal" couple before the government got their mits on him. :)
