A good friend of mine is attempting to create the first really comprehensive survey of international marriages and divorces. He has researchers from several universities including Depaul, Georgia State and Notre Dame involved in the project along with some divorce attorneys. The survey is being widely promoted with the hopes of getting 5000 responses and coming up with some real statistics for the first time about things such as the actual divorce rate of international marriages The causes of these divorces and how important things like the short time allowed on a K-1, language differences, age differences, income and education are in the success or failure rate of international marriages.

If you are or have been involved in an international marriage it would really help if you could take a few minutes and complete the survey. There are only 20 questions.

If you take the survey it does ask for your name and e-mail but that is only because of the software they are using and the need to verify that it is real people taking the survey. Your name or e-mail will not be sold or used or divulged to anyone. Actually I think you can leave that blank and still complete the survey.

I hope if you are or have been in an international marriage that you will take some time and complete the survey. I think there will be some very good information that comes from it.

oh please. i'd believe that if it was in 1990. it's impossible nowadays not to have internet access. if you can't afford, can't use it at work, there's always friends, family, public libraries.

But the problem is I just don't think you will find that many people on this site involved with an international marriage.

And besides that, I don't like doing surveys. I just can't see sitting at a computer reading and typing so much.

The OP is a long standing member here...people are more apt to regard what he has to say than someone who just joined this site today and is asking for people to provide information regarding their marriage.

Well I went to the website, registered and took the survey all the way to the last question when it asked for my phone number and then I cleared all my entries. No offense, but I'm not sure what he's trying to accomplish with the survey since it didn't really state clearly what it's for. As for the questions, they seem to be lacking and some of them are just downright lame. Sorry.

Yes, my friend knows that I am an active member here and that is why he asked me to do it.

As far as the specific data like e-mail and phone I am sure some would be concerned about that but if you leave it blank everything still works so if the phone number or e-mail, exc bothers you just leave it blank or enter something like 111-111-1111. They are not going to call anyone, and they you won't find yourself on any spam mailing list.

Why do they have to call it a "mail order bride" survey? IMHO that's a little bit demeaning to the many nice women that have married US citizens, and nice guys too..And this is supposedly from a university study?

I tried that but apparently it sends the survey to your email address and so as I filled in an email addy which doesn't exist, I cannot take part.

I second the PP who questioned the survey being called "mail order bride"- we did not meet on a marriage site, we met at a conference and then had a LDR until he came here to Ireland, and now we are moving to the USA. I think many couples here met in similar circumstances, ie not on a specific relationship website. So I don't even know if we/ most members of this site are suitable for the survey.
