Well, due to the funding I'm receiving for my schooling, I'm required to be full time in Spring and Summer as well as Fall and Winter semesters. Also due to the very restricted amount of classes offered in these two current semesters, I'm having to take a couple of online classes, which I've never done before. The Spring semester started yesterday, and I printed out about an inch thick of papers that my Instructor wanted us to have as paper copies, and spent five or six hours on the Blackboard website for the course. (My first one..I got into the school to work on my Accounting with Micros..quickbooks...tomorrow, but I'm not as concerned about that one.) This, ironically, is another Psychology class. ;):D . I am feeling just a BIT overwhelmed at the amount of assignments this instructor has given us already!! None can be made up; they must be done in the week they are assigned. As this is a course that is normally held in Fall and Winter (3 1/2 or 4 month time frame) and this class is only six weeks, we move at a VERY rapid pace. Admittedly, I tend to be a bit of a procrastinator, but I see I'm going to have to shove THAT role aside for the time being, because I'm gonna have to work my butt off(wouldn't be a bad thing ...) ;) to get this done with a good grade!! Feeling just a tadddddd overwhelmed at the amount of course work right now, but I'm sure I'll feel a bit more comfortable after the first week or so....well, I hope anyway!!!! We have an exam/one unit per week...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

 M.

I've just been reading and studying for a couple hours..time to hit the hay!!! Night all! :)

Of course you can do it - you can do most anything you put your mind to - but you have to BELIEVE in yourself too. Heck you got THIS far right? You've overcome many things in your life that were harder..right?

I have done a few online courses, and its soo easy to put them off!! Best is to write out a schedule and try to stick to it. I'm doing a 6 week in class course now, lots of work!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What's it like to be a student in an online course? How will you know if online learning is "right" for you? This unit explores these questions, and more!

How will online courses fit with your personality, lifestyle, and educational needs? How will you be successful in this environment and what obstacles might you face? How will being a student online differ from your experiences as a student in other settings?

I've done 5 courses online. The way they are set up depends on the instructor... but I'm a non-procrastinating person... they were challenging yet I loved them.

Well this one is very fast-paced being a Spring course, or it would be a lot more fun!! It is, indeed, interesting and all..but the pace, oh the paceeeeeeee. Zoom, zoom, zoom!(now I'm gonna have that durn commercial in my head!) I've just spent 4 hours straight on it tonight..and that's the first module. Module 2 and all the assignments...quizzes, discussion board, blogging, etc are due by Saturday, and we're going out of town for my Sis's 50th bday party Friday at noon and not getting back til Saturday evening!! I guess I know what *I* will be doing tomorrow!! *sigh* and maybe even logging on at my Sis's Friday night! Ah well, it'll be worth it! Thanks for the encouragement peeps!! :) M.

and yes, so right Lisa..and Jay...and all  I think I can, I think I can... :) M. (I spent the first few hours of the day AT school tho, doing my directed study class..and it's now 2:46am so pretty tired...lucky I can sleep in for a little while after Corey goes to school tomorrow!!) :)
