I have no veins. They told me so. <hehe>

Seriously they are tiny and roll. I had a nurse almost pass out trying. Just as well since I am always anemic...blah

when our first baby was born, they asked us if we could ask our family to donate some blood to keep handy in case our baby needed it.. I couldn't because I had just given birth and hubby didn't match.... but I was surprised that most of his family agreed to get tested to see if they matched.. even his brother who is afraid of needles..

I should expand on this a little bit. The reason I've never even considered donating blood is because I bruise really easily. I don't mind needles or blood at all. When I was 16 I had the glucose tolerance test and my arm was so bruised from the needles that I could barely move it for almost a week.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

B- like my Dad. I used to donate blood until a TB test came up positive and now I can't. It seems like the Red Cross wagon is at my University every week getting student to donate blood.

I can't.

Apparently if you're British you can't donate in this country due to FDA rules about possible vCJD contamination.

They barred me too since I helped occupy Germany in the 80's. Same reason.

I hate needles so I never did, but then a combo of a bleeding ulcer + blood thinners after surgery on my beloved grandmother required her to have 13 pints in a row. It was awful...her bp was something ridiculous like 40/15 and the color of her skin was transparent.

Without those blood donors, she'd have died that night. So then I basically would power thru my fear & I started giving all the time.

After my surgery, it was such a nightmare...my veins were collapsing all over the place and it was a horrible ordeal...I had to have IVs moved all over...my hands, my neck, my feet even...I got really sick with MRSA and needed IVs for months, also had arterial blood gasses drawn all the time (which are just hell on earth). I really was absolutely terrified of needles after that. But about 10 mos after everything, I was somewhere and they were having a blood drive and they asked me, so I fig'd it was for the 'greater good'. I go in the bus, the lady's readin thru the bog standard questionaire, and we're just goin thru the motions when she asks 'have you had a membrane transplant within the past x years?' and I'm like 'holy #######, yeah I have'

They turned me away, and I felt so fkin tainted, lolz.

I've gone many times since, sometimes it takes, other times, my anemia's too bad that there's not enough iron so they say no.

O+

That's my mom's type....I think she is a "universal donor"

O- is universal

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I did pass out once in the hall of the Doctor's office after getting a blood test done. I had gotten a lot of sun the day before and I think it was more heatstroke that did it to me.
