My personal economy has tanked....

I got a job! I'll be working as a file clerk in a law office, bit higher pay than what I had, and it's practically within walking distance of my apartment! I had an hour long interview yesterday with the paralegal there; she said that was a good sign, since she doesn't normally talk that long unless she thinks she's got a good candidate. Before I left, she told me to think it over and call her in the morning if I was still interested. I called and was told she was on the phone and they asked me to call back in about 15 minutes. While I waited, a got a call from Janie, a vice president at my previous job. Janie had written a general reference letter that I've been handing out with my resumes. She had just been on the phone with the paralegal, who had called her to ask about me. It was down to two candidates, and apparently Janie's conversation pushed me up over the edge. I called the office again and spoke to the paralegal, told her I was still interested. She said she'd have an answer possibly later today, certainly by tomorrow. Two minutes later, she called back and said I had the job!!

Just found out that Janie, the V.P. at my old company who helped me get my current job, was layed off about a month ago. Don't know yet if she found another job; she's currently taking site-seeing trips.
