Here are our two Siberians. Bella turns 3 in Sept, she is the Orange one. Kipper turns two in Dec. They are slow maturing cats, not attaining full weight till around 5 yrs of age. And expected weight for males can be in the 15-20 lb range.

The more I see Siberians the more I wonder if Lion and Bear have a Siberian parent rather than a Maine ####### - the size would be right, the appearance is right and the slow maturation is right as well. When did yours develop their long coats? Were they born with them or did they develop when they were around 6 to 7 months old?

They are very beautiful, btw, and the Kipper looks very much like Bear facially and confirmation wise - and fur wise!

We got bella a bit older, think around 16 weeks of age, and Kipper around 12 weeks, and I think they always had long hair, lol

Kipper just had his belly shaved!! he hates to be brushed so he tends to get matts! Well about a month back, we tried to cut a matt, just as we were cutting the matt ( 2 person evolution) he squirmed! Long story short, tore a bit of his skin! $600 vet bill!! From now on, will just take him to the groomers. if you google siberian kittens, you will find many pics

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

One of the things I made a point of doing when the kittens were still babies was to get them used to being brushed and combed all over, and to having their feet handled so I could trim their claws. Now, all I have to do is hold out the brush or the comb and they all come running wanting to be brushed! They love being brushed and combed! I have to take turns doing a little bit of each one because if I ignore one he or she will butt in and push another one out of the way and then snarky woods get exchanged:-). Bear has fur that is between 4 to 6 inches long (!!!!!) and it is super fine. His mane is even longer and I have had to trim the mane around his mouth because he can't wash without getting the mane stuck in the corner of his mouth and it gets all ratty and wet - as well as him eating more hair than he needs. He looks kind of funny because it has been cut but we are both happier with it and I try to trim it along the line of his neck so it is still a ruff. They are also no problem with getting their nails trimmed and will lie in my lap purring while I pet and massage their paws and then clip their nails in between. Freija - the one I thought would never socialize - is the only one who hates getting her claws trimmed - and I was never able to get near her until she was about 5 months old. She screams bloody murder the whole time I am trimming her claws - but she does enjoy getting combed in small doses. Fortunately, she is short-hair, but she still sheds a lot.

flea comb and a bowl of water with dishsoap in it. Comb out the fleas and drop them in the dish soap. If you have fleas on the animal you have them in the house. You may need to use a premise spray - something with micro-encapsulated pyrethrins takes care of fleas in various stages of growth but you need to check if you can use it at the same time as Advantage. Your vet would know. Vacuum well and throw away the bag right afterwards. Good luck. If you own your own property you can also treat your yard with beneficial nematodes. They take a while before they become effective but each year the nematodes increase and feed on the flea eggs and larvae in the lawn until you have none that can survive outside. You can find out about the nematodes at www.GardensAlive.com. We have treated our property with both beneficial nematodes and Milky Spore as natural ways to get rid of a lot of garden pests. It works but is a long term solution.

Good to know!!

I am really freaked out by fleas- I never had to deal with them in Alberta. I took Cooper to a local dog park and there were fleas everywhere. I give Cooper the monthly treatments but I am turned off about going back. I feel bad- he had such a great time playing there.

didnt edit in time:

I still bring in a yearly stool sample to test for the heartworm! But one doesnt need to provide this company a prescription from your vet! Same goes if you find a Canadian company, one of those loop holes. And some vets will match their prices
