Why can't a women be primary provider in all respects? Is the man then a wimp or something?

Then the woman is satan and the man is a heathen who has spit in the face of God Himself.

I am the primary breadwinner of our household currently. I actually hope that changes in the near future. For now, it is what it is. Makes no difference in the whole scheme of things.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

What do you think of women breadwinners? Is it acceptable for a woman to be the primary earner in a household? Is this the best way to mend a father/child relationship?

It's perfectly acceptable.... But it is still the man's role to be a provider for his family. It should be his desire to ensure that his family is well-off, with all needs met. Thus, it's natural for the man to be the breadwinner.

Why is it his role? What if the woman has a higher earning potential? What if the man prefers to be at home cooking, or is better with babies?

The only thing a man can't really do is give birth and breastfeed.

I am the breadwinner. My husband hates the idea, but there isn't much to be done about it right now. It will probably change in the next year or so after all of this license ####### is finally finished and he has put in his time at his current job.

same here.

I make more money than him, I've had several more years in the American workforce to leverage up. but I am eagerly awaiting the day that he surpasses me and can support me to stay home to lay on the couch, eating bonbons and watching daytime television.

I can't even understand why this question is necessary. Why on earth does it matter if a woman is the breadwinner in the family or the man is? Who ever is best able to achieve the largest salary and/or the best benefits - regardless if it is the man or the woman- is fine being the breadwinner. It doesn't mean that person is more or less important than the other partner - you just work out the arrangements that work best for the individuals involved.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

There are many reasons why a woman would be the breadwinner. I think it's fine under a couple of conditions. I can't tolerate if a man is lazy and that is why the woman has to be the breadwinner. I knew too many guys who made their wives be the breadwinners because they couldn't hold down a job and had no real interest in it, and the women did not want to be the main source of income but had no choice because their husbands wouldn't work. If a man is a hard worker(whether in the home or at the workplace) but is not the breadwinner I don't see a problem. But if the man is just being lazy, I have a big problem with it. I like that Sujeet is the breadwinner in our situation though. If something happened where he couldn't work and I had to be the main source, I would do it of course but my pay scale would be crappy compared to his.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

That sounds like heaven...

Really. Though for us, we have a toddler which effectively ruins any imagined SAH paradise. My husband completely swore off the idea of ever staying home full time again after just a few months of it with a toddler. You can't get anything done. Forget relaxing and goofing off and all of that. Babysitter you would think, but I don't make enough on my own to afford one. My husband practically dances to work everyday. He knows what the alternative is.
