The rising cost of food and fuel is driving up the price of beer.

Global demand and a bad year for hops, barley and wheat in Europe and Australia have tightened supplies. And, with higher transportation costs, beer makers said they have no choice but to raise prices.

Robin Ottaway of Brooklyn Brewery said, "Our costs have been up roughly 12 to 15 percent and the reality is they're still going up in some cases."

Retail analysts estimate some brands are now costing a dollar more for a 6-pack. The price increase is less for the bigger brands because of the large volume of sales.

They said yesterday on the news they were raising the price of Chicken this summer too. Becuz the corn to feed the chicken is now being used to make ethanol. It so crazy, everything is going up except my paycheck.

That's it. That's the last damn straw.

Not the beer. :cry::crying:

:lol: Never mess with a German's beer right?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Beer is still cheaper than gas though. Don't drive, drink! :D

Not the kind I buy. :whistle:

I hear ya...the stuff that is cheaper than gas isn't real beer anyway, just a beer-like substance.

I've already stopped driving as much, but I don't know if I'll be able to stop drinking beer as much!

It may have something to do with the price of tea in China.
