Iran: President wants to 'annihilate corrupt powers'

Mashhad, 10 April(AKI) - Iran's hardline president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday his country's objective was to destroy what he called corrupt western powers.

"Our objective is to annihilate all corrupt powers that dominate our planet today," said Ahmadinejad.

He was speaking in the holy Shia city of Mashhad, located 850 kilometres east of the Iranian capital Tehran at an event where he met Senegalese president Abdoulaye Wade.

Ahmadinejad also "advised" western powers to repent or, "otherwise Iranians will hoist their flag on the roof of their buildings."

"Our enemies do not fear the technological, economical and industrial aspects of our nuclear programme, but tremble at the thought of the Islamic republic sitting as equals with them at the same table," he said.

Well I would say this was a direct threat of war on the west. The problem with threats of war is they are highly esclatory and have a 90% chance rate of leading to actual war. It can be enough cause for a preemptive stick with the latest information from Isreal.

However, we just discussed in my World Politics and War class on Thursday that the US spends more money on their defense then the world combined. We're supporting most the worlds militaries! So my question is how are we to be at war with Afghanistan, Iraq, and go into Iran as well without the aid of the other Western Countries militaries? In the 1990's top White House officials said that in 10-15 years the real threat would be Iran. See Thomas Freidman's book "From Beirut to Jerusalem" in his last chapter he discusses this and it's playing out like he said. What is alarming is I guess they were right!

What also concerns me is that in Pakistan it was recently reported that al-Queda is regrouping on the boarders so how are we going to manage this kind of attack from all front when Iran is militarizing nuclearly, Pakistan is regrouping al-Queda, and we're bogged down in rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan?

This is kind of overwhelming because I can see this leading to a massive third world war in a few years. Something like 2012? Ack!
