Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands, which remain in British hands after a 1982 war, is "inalienable", President Cristina Kirchner says.

"The sovereign claim to the Malvinas Islands (Argentina's name for them) is inalienable," she said in a speech marking the 26th anniversary of Argentina's ill-fated invasion of the two islands 480km offshore.

...

Ms Kirchner, in her speech, called for Argentina to strengthen its representation in international fora to denounce "this shameful colonial enclave in the 21st century".

Her vice president, Julio Cobos, said in the southern city of Rio Grande that "we must recover this territory that is ours, that belongs to us".

I think, UK and Argentina should solve the problem through negotiations.

I like the idea of organizing Falkland Cup or Copa Malvinas every 4 years. Three games series would be held in Stadio Monumental or La Bombarena, Buenos Aires and next edition's 3 game series would be held in Wembley Stadium, London or Old Trafford, Manchester. They both have very strong national football (soccer) teams. We need to allow "hand of God" goal though!

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Actually, the Argentine's held their own pretty good during the Falklands conflict. Discovery Channel had a pretty good docu on it.

i heard the brits brought back a bunch of sheep from that conflict - war brides

We don't want another war! LOL

But yes... under current conditions the claim is pretty hard. Nevertheless I hear there are more Argentines than Brits on the islands... The last time the claim turned into armed conflict was to get public attention away from murderous thugs in the Argentine government... this time who knows?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Thank you to all those that support Argentina's claim!

I won't elaborate on this issue, as I feel very strongly about it and it has made me upset to discuss it in the past. I will say that I fully support Argentina's claim, achieved through diplomatic negotiation.

Anyone who is interested on this topic, a lot of good information can fe found both on Wikipedia, and the UN's website section on decolonization.

Go the Kirchners!!!!

Britian, an example of a former colonial power, trying to hang on too a samll island far from home.////oh well, india is gone .......but damn, we draw the line on the Falklands,. it is vital for our national interests..................colonialism is wrong

I would agree - but I'm not sure how the Argentinian people are being negatively impacted by Britain's ownership of the islands. If they had a sizeable population there living under British rule, that would be one thing. But they don't - so asking 3000 odd people to abandon their homes and businesses just so another country can stroll in and take it over (just because) doesn't seem particularly fair to the established population.

As it is I think Spain has a greater claim to Gibraltar, given the diverse makeup of the people living there.

In all of these case's though - the ultimate determination should surely be made by a referendum of the people living there.

You have made some good points. UK and Argentina both should solve this diplomatically.

Having a football tournament as "Copa Malvinas" would be good.
