Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands, which remain in British hands after a 1982 war, is "inalienable", President Cristina Kirchner says.

"The sovereign claim to the Malvinas Islands (Argentina's name for them) is inalienable," she said in a speech marking the 26th anniversary of Argentina's ill-fated invasion of the two islands 480km offshore.

Thank you to all those that support Argentina's claim!

I won't elaborate on this issue, as I feel very strongly about it and it has made me upset to discuss it in the past. I will say that I fully support Argentina's claim, achieved through diplomatic negotiation.

Anyone who is interested on this topic, a lot of good information can fe found both on Wikipedia, and the UN's website section on decolonization.

I think Argentina should give up on the Falklands. It would be another story if they actually had people living there - but they don't.

In this case possession amounts to ownership. IMO.

Seems like a way of distracting the Argentine people of more important issues in their country. A ploy of politicians replayed throuughout history.
