Guys I need help I’m so very confused about the I-134 Affidavit of Support.

What the minimum amount you have to make in order to be qualified?

I read a somewhere on VJ that it is not required?

What is poverty guideline?

What all is required with I-134?

Please help I’m stressed out now about this!!!!!

Jill, that's wonderful news for you. Congratulations!

MnM.. you have some reading to do. ;)

What the minimum amount you have to make in order to be qualified?

The poverty guidelines can be found here

I read a somewhere on VJ that it is not required?

At most USEMs it is a requirement. They have to be sure the beneficiary does not become a public charge. You're their insurance. If you do not meet the minimum you can 'usualy' use a co-sponsor who would complete all of the same documents as you and provide all of the same evidence.

You can read more about that here.

On this page read the section about what to send your fiance and it has a link to the I-134 form. Here is an example to help you fill it out. DO NOT use that form and just change the information. Download a new form to use just use this one for reference.

Take a deep breath, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine do some reading and then fill out the form. Then begin to gather the evidence you will need to go along with it. It's all spelled out in the links provided above and if you get lost along the way just search here on VJ and you are sure to find your answers. ;)

Past 5 and still nothing. Guess our adjuticator is having his/her summer break. :( Soon. :)

Congrats to all the new approvals from me too!

Kim - it's got to be our week this week. Patience is a virtue  At least that's what I keep telling myself and my SO.

Totally off topic [sort of] - anyone here been to Turkey as a tourist? Did you like it? I just can't stomach the flight to India right now....Turkey's sort of in the middle...sort of.

Congrats on everyone getting approvals, its all very exciting and I know the wait is tough... Quick question - I just spoke to NVC and they said they sent my petition to Chile on August 1st, I am trying to track it via DHL - EXP 1 AUG 2008A as a reference but nothing is coming up, I changed the dates but still nothing is coming up. "No shipments found. Please revise criteria and resubmit"

I'm sure that there were other shipments and I am probably just doing something wrong. ??

Thanks,

Kristen

I had a look and there is one to Santiago (do Track by number to look at it-- 9423680884) You can call the Dept of State and they can tell you if yours is at the Embassy.

This one I tracked by EXP 30 JUL 2008A and used the shipment pickup dates Jul 31 to July 31. You have to back it up a day from when they tell you. Normally for an Aug 1 departure, I would track EXP 31 JUL 2008A (always the day before) and I would do shipment pickup dates of Aug1 to Aug1, but since that didn't come up with Chile, I backed it up one more day. I bet that's yours and it's already in Chile.

Good morning April.

So nothing today yet? Just one yesterday? Grrrrrr frustrating!

Yes, my glass is still half full ...but dang!

milo.. I sure hope this is our week hon.

It is getting harder to remain positive but i'm even more frustrated for those who filed weeks before us who still aren't approved...yet, there into May??? I totally get that there is going to be some disparity but there is just something so not right about that. :(

happy thoughts to all!

Dale... have a wonderful trip! Will you be staying until the interview?

Well at least you have a date, even though it's probably a disappointment to have to wait another 7 weeks. Wait, wait, wait!!!! We do a lot of that. I'm waiting on the SMS courier who was supposed to come yesterday with the passport and visa. Then they promised between 1:00 and 3:00 today. Then at 3:05 they called the driver and he said within the hour. I am so close to seeing my fiance's visa, yet so far. [sigh] I think SMS stands for Slow Mail Services or Secure Mail Sucks! :ranting:
