Hey everyone!!

I have a question for ya and was wondering if anyone had an answer or some type of advice. I recently found out that Gardasil is now a requirement as part of the K-1 Visa process for Canada. If some of you don't know, Gardasil is 3 seperate shots given over a 6 month period. I was informed by a few VJ friends that I only need to get the first shot in order to be eligible for get my Visa. Does anyone know if I am required to get the other 2 shots before AOS?

This is a fairly new requirement so I doubt anyone has experienced it yet but I figure I'd ask incase.

Thanks! :D

Depending on the country you are comming from, you might be able to get vaccines cheaper there, than you will here.

In my experience. Vaccines cost anywhere from $40 to $120 per shot. Depending on the vaccine, and the clinic/hospital you get them at.

In Canada it is now required. Check with your family doctor on getting the shot. I think you only have to have one of the three shots before being admitted the US, but you'll want to check this out. The shots aren't cheap. They're also only required for fiances (female) up to age 27. After you've reached your 27th birthday, you're not required to get them.

I just think this new rule is a bunch of BS,if they want to be so uptight about the shots why dont they let us all enter the country when a shot against HIV is out on the market.

I havn't had my medical yet. There was talk of Gardasil being required for Canadians so, I called the doctor and they said that it is a new requirement. I got the first one last week and it costed $165.

I'm just trying to find out if that is good enough. I know that I can get my Visa with just the one shot but I'm wondering if I'll be allowed to do AOS if I didn't get the other two.

*Start rant:* It's ridiculous. How about they make sure people use condoms too?

The one main reason women should use gardesil is if they change partners. Yes true your one and only partner could carry it, but come on, there are so many disease you can get from just about everyone.

Do we need to prove X years of abstinence too?

I just don't see the point. And I think it's discriminatory against women.

I hate that I have to get it!!

Yes, you only need the first shot before being admitted to the US but I'm just wondering if I have to get the other two shots before applying for AOS? I was told that since it isn't required in the US, that they can't force me to get the other shots for AOS. Anyone know anything about that?

No, I don't know about this. I know that Laura, from Laura and Nick knows a lot about this. She is specifically not having her medical until after her 27th birthday on May 19th so she doesn't have to have the shot! There was a thread in the Canadian forum on this, that might have some answers, if not, PM Laura, whom I'm sure would let you know about the requirements...she seems to know a lot about this.

Are you kidding?

How about the fact that the strains it vaccinates against are the ones that cause cancer? Cancer is a better alternative to getting a vaccine?

And no, the only reason women should get Gardasil is not if they change partners. Like you even stated, you can get it front your first and only partner; also, do gonorrhea or chlamydia cause cancer? Yeah, didn't think so.

Bottom line is also: if you want to be in the country and they require it, you have to get it. Which is better: Gardasil or them not allowing any fiances to enter the country? Seriously. So many people on this site fail to see the bigger picture, which to me is: if my husband had to eat fire, jump through hoops, and ride and elephant to the jungle for them to approve him, we would have done it. There are far worse things than having to get a vaccine (like getting stuck in namecheck for 2 or 3 years like some people here have).

As far as discriminatory against women...women are the only ones who get cancer from HPV. Dee dee dee.
