Everything you've listed is right, you need all the things you listed

Your fiance doesn't need your birth certificate.

Proof that you've seen each other in the last 2 years includes stuff like: airplane tickets and receipts, hotel receipts, any restaurants/shows/events you guys have been to (receipts), etc.

You can also send in "secondary" evidence if you want to: photos of the two of you together, letters you've sent each other, emails, phone bills. But you don't need to do this yet. You WILL need all this at the interview which will be months and months away.

Your fiance has to send in his birth certificate as proof of his citizenship. It may be wise to send in copies of all the pages of his passport too, because 1. if he only has a "short" version of his birth certificate, this isn't enough evidence for the Center, and 2. the passports will show the stamps of when he's visited you.

He sends in the I-129F, and you both fill out the G-325A which is the Biograph.

For the "letter of intent," you both write one saying you want to marry each other and have a longterm relationship. You can write it together and sign the same one, or send in separate ones from the both of you. Don't forget to DATE it though and sign it.

Also date your passport photos on the back with a pencil, and write your full names on them too.

Make sure your fiance makes TWO copies of everything. And he shouldn't send in any original evidence ( the plane tickets and such), only xeroxes of those. He'll need to send YOU the originals of all of that in a few months.

However, every signature sent in has to be original - not copied; so not copies of the I-129F or G-325 will be accepted.

And the fee is $455, send in a check or money order from a bank.

I think that's it...Good luck!

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

It is not necessary, though, to get a lawyer and can be even more satisfying knowing that you both worked throughout the whole process on your own. On the other side, a lawyer could prevent you from not sending something important in the first place, but the lawyer will not make the process go any faster. We did it ourselves and got the NOA2 in 2 months, 4 days.

12-14-07 Sent K-1 petition

12-17-07 Received NOA1

01-06-08 Got engaged!!!

If you are confuse with the different stories you've heared...why not check the complete requirements in filling for your petition? I beleive it is all somewhere in this VJ web.....the guidelines and just every answer of your question you may have in your mind.

Goodluck gurl!!!

Breathe! :)

Click Here for the K1 Guides. It's a list of what you need for the intial petition.

At this point you don't need your birth certificate, but you can send it in if you like. We sent mine in even though it doesn't ask for it at this point just in case. I've seen people get RFE's for not including the beneficiaries birth certificate with the initial package.

Just read through the guides and take your time, fill everything in correctly and triple check what you've done after it's all together.

Don't forget to do a cover letter with a list of everything you have in your package and put all your documents in the same order listed on that cover letter.

Good Luck!
