What will they ask during a Naturalization interview?

Can anyone that has been through an interview already describe the procedure, what they are going to ask?

And also, do you have to study the oath by heart?

This is based on my interview and my sister's interview which took place last October.

They'll ask you about 10 questions out of the 100 you memorized. They'll make small talk to see if you can speak English. They'll ask you to write a sentence in English on a piece of paper. And that's it.

The only thing they changed was the test. It's supposed to be more "in depth" but in all honestly is just a joke. The new test has about 40 more questions but they still ask you about 10 from all 140, that's all. Everything else is the same.

And yes, the test is part of the interview. They just ask you questions and they look at the answers on a cheat sheet they have.

Ask questions - What you are doing? How many trips you have been outside the country? Did your marital status change? Did you get any tickets or get into any trouble with the law between your filing and interview? They may also ask for some particular documents like mariiage certificate, etc. Do you want to change your name?

After that they conduct US History/Civics test. They would also ask you write and read sentence.

You maybe asked to print your name behind your photos.

Than you should be set...depending on office you oath ceremony would be scheduled.

things have really changed since I've taken my test in the early 90s. I was asked 5 questions, while the person that administered my test orally was filing. I took the oath, she asked 5 questions and I was sworn in a few weeks later at the court house in Rockville Maryland a few weeks later. Wishing you all the best.

It's really no big deal, so don't stress about it. I think it was more difficult to pass my Drivers License written test portion than the US citizenship interiview.

I'm not sure to be honest with you. They didn't tell me nor my sister if we passed. They just said that we would get notification in the mail regarding the interview. Then we received the letter with the Oath Ceremony information, that's how we knew we had passed.

Not likely---they need to give a strong reason for a denial, and you have rights of rebuttal and appeal.

Usually, it is the just usual "no decision" from USCIS for months after the interview. USCIS Delay=Denial?
