just this morning i had some idiot pass me while i was at 53 mph in a 50 zone, as they pass i braked hard because they were throwing gravel. no cracked windshield fortunately.

Were you in the passing lane? :P j/k

From my driver's ed class back in high school, my instructer would say, "Charles, if someone is tailgating you, and they have no lane to pass you, you are to pull over and give way." :P

My horn is my car's voice, I have no control over it really. I don't give the finger, but I have perfected the "look".

Tinted windows have stunted my development.

one lane each direction. the idiot was in a hurry. i was 3 mph above the posted speed limit. he passed me at 15 mph or more over the posted limit.

I don't hesitate to honk when some schmuck is on his cell phone, driving slow in the passing lane. He's not driving slow to be safe, he's just not paying attention.

I love when drivers will mysterious apply their brakes without reason or provocation (usually happens when they're deep in cell phone conversation...using wearing a goofy, vacant smile as I pass them).

I also love drivers who will change lanes without signaling, especially the ones who do it quickly (they're my favorite).

Conscientious drivers are a rare commodity these days. It seems more drivers are too self absorbed to even be aware they are sharing the road with anyone else.

Those are several of my pet driving peeves too. But what's worse than a driver who doesn't use his turn signal is one who thinks that they automatically get the right of way as soon as they turn it on. I've seen it happen so often on the interstates where a driver turns on his/her signal and just moves into the lane without even looking to see if someone is already on it. :ranting:

Also, don't forget to add people who are doing other unsafe things while driving like putting make-up on, writing a report, working on a crossword puzzle!! I can't believe how many strange things other people think of doing while they are (supposedly) driving.

I've been honked at once, when I was waiting to turn right (out of a school driveway, mind you). I was waiting for the right and safe time to turn but the parent behind me could not wait. I could not care less of course. My and other drivers' safety are more important to me than some impatient driver.

Yep - that quick-flash-signal-zip-into-lane. I've seen some large trucks do that and it's really frightening.

We were on the freeway a few weeks ago and watched as this woman was changing lanes erradically while she kept leaning over like she was searching for something. There were several moments where her head completely disappeared from behind the dashboard!

Driving here in CT you get flipped the bird all the time if you "obey the laws".. we've been passed at a stop light from behind and given the finger because there was a "no right turn on red" sign staring right at us..

Aggression is the name of the game here in CT!

I know the feeling. I rarely honk. I think I've honked twice in the past ten years. Usually because what ever happened, happened. It's too late now. Honking ain't going to change a thing.

I only use my finger sparingly - I prefer "the look" as well. But I often with a certain kind of driver few things can be more satisfying than the finger (my little pinky, that is........)

I don't honk unless someone's about to hit me and then only to alert them of my presence. I also prefer the look... When someone honks at me, and I haven't done anything wrong (like when the light JUST turned green and I didn't burn the tires up screeching out of there!), I go as slow as possible to further irritate the honker and amuse myself

If honking annoys you, I suggest you never visit Egypt and drive or ride in a car there. When I was there I would get so irritated on behalf of the taxi driver and then at him because everyone in Egypt honks freely... at ANYTHING  Of course I also witnessed, on more than one occasion, another driver putting his hand out the window and onto the hood of the car beside him in order to stop him so he can get over in traffic
