Embassy sends everything to applicants by regular mail only. You should stay in contact with your Embassy by email if mail takes a long time for delivery. Stay on top of things, because the Embassy will not!!!!! On the Embassy website it will tell you that the petitioner is not required to be present at the interview, they requested me to be there, so save your self time and go to the interview in the beginning. The interview took 10 minutes, quick and easy, just tell the truth. Some of the document I obtained they never asked for, they will tell you what document they want at the 1st window. To me the hardest part is waiting for your airpak after you have been approved from DHL, this will drive you crazy. 2008-12-23

But it's finally in the system. E-mail notice today (4-18-2008) that our I130 has been approved and the approval postal mailed yesterday. After numerous hiccups with NVC they finally sent our paperwork to the embassy in Manila on 10/28/2008. Along the way NVC took my $400 money order for the visa fee bill, cashed it and then weeks later claimed I never sent it. After delays while proving to them through bank documentation that they did, in fact, already receive the money, they proceeded to lose not one but two NSO certified copies of our marriage certificate. Lastly, after having my wife run all over the Philippines to get local police clearances for every town she's ever lived in for more than 6 months, we got the stamp of approval and now at last have an interview appointment on 12/9/2008. Interestingly enough, our I-129F, which was received back in early January '08 and touched in May '08, has still not emerged from the bureaucratic quagmire, but it doesn't matter since our I-130 plodded ahead. Our original visa interview date of 12-09-2008 got delayed. Jacky did not pass her medical because they thought the x-ray looked suspicious. She had pneumonia earlier in the year and it left some scarring on the lungs. She returned a couple of days later for a TB smear test. Those results came back negative, as we suspected. But then they had her do a TB sputum test in which they culture the sample for two months to see if the TB bacterium grows. We had to wait two additional weeks to even take that test. Why the long delay just to spit into a cup I don't know, since she wasn't undergoing any medical treatment. But that's what happened. So those results finally came back in mid-February. Negative! So they rescheduled the interview for 3-4-2009. Jacky said the pre-interview was very strict but the main interview couldn't have gone easier. It was over in 10 minutes and we got one of the interviewers who would tell you the verdict. He told her she passed and to expect a visa in a few days. I thought that might have been overly optimistic on the delivery time, but sure enough the visa arrived two days following her interview. I've purchased a plane ticket for April, since that's the earliest we can do because of prior time commitments. Anyway, the long process is over. She will arrive on her immigrant (I-130) visa soon. Oh, and the I-129F? Still missing in action, though it doesn't matter anymore. A year or two from now we'll probably get a notice that we can pay the fees and proceed to the next step. :) 2009-03-06
