We weren't sure whether or not I was going to be able to enter the Embassy, but this was no problem. My fiance and I stood in line together with the other K1 applicants, and when we checked in via the appointment letter, the guard just asked me if I was the sponsor and I just showed them I had a US Passport. After entering we realized the Manila Embassy had totally been re-done (it's much nicer now). When you enter, you go through an initial document check and then receive your ticket with your ticket number (you need to keep this the entire time cause you'll be referring to it all day). At this point you go into the main hall where there are many windows. An electronic display board will show ticket numbers and windows to go to. Within the first 10-20 minutes you're ticket number is shown to go to a window where your fiance is finger printed. After this point you wait for some time until the second document check/submission is done, and where some preliminary questions are asked. We both went together, and funnily enough I was asked some questions too. Then we waited for 5 hours to get to the main consular interview. During this time the embassy shut down for a lunch break, and we were allowed to leave and re-enter (you need to have your ticket in this case, because my fiance had to surrender her passport before). When we were finally called up for our interview, it took no more than 3 minutes. She was asked two questions, I was asked 3 and we were done. The consular invalidated her previous US visitor Visa and told us we had been approved. We went to another window where you fill out information on where the passport needs to be shipped with the visa, and then we were out of there! Whew! 2011-09-27

I went with my fiance to the interview in Kiev on January 22 and I am very happy that I did because we had NO PROBLEMS and NO QUESTIONS asked. Ok let me start from the begining..... Frist we came in at 9 am (our interview is at 9:30) and there was a big line a head of us but I came up to the guy in black coat saying "American Embassy" and told him that I'm an US Citizen and we have an inteview set up at 9:30am and he just let us in right away. He said that my fiance can't take any bags of phone or anything with him except papers, but he told me that I can take anything with me because I'm a US Citizen. We went in and went thru the security check and went to that glass window where they asked us all the papers. They guy behind the window was very nice to us, I'm sure it was becuase I was there and we have all of our papers complete and neat, and ready for him when he asked me for them. then we had a seat and waited to be called. Lady called my fiance Vitalik to do his fingerprints and in about 50min to an hour Vitalik got called for the interview by the american cosular that was very nice. I went in with Vitalik and the consulat asked me if I was his USC Fiance and I said yes. He asked me to show him my passport, then asked us both to raise our hand and affirm that everything in the papers are true, we did that. Then he gave Vitalik to sign a paper, and asked me if I came to the US as refugee and I said yes, and then he gave us the infamous pink slip. That was it, UNBELIEVABLE fast and NO QUESTIONS asked. We went to pay for visa delivery, actually we arranged to pick up the visa instead of it being mailed to us but still had to pay $8. We left at 11am and were off to eat breakfast :) I would reccomend everyone (US Citizen fiances) to go with your foreign fiance to the interview, it helps ALOT, takes alot of stress off their sholder and the consulars are WAY NICER to you if you're there with them, thats a BIG proof for the relationship too. Good Luck to everyone and let me know if I can help anyone! 2011-09-27
