I believe at around quarter to 7:00a.m. another couple showed up, who was also applying for the K1 Visa. They're also on Visa Journey and we chatted for a while as more people continued to show up and line up behind us. Just after 7:30a.m., the doors opened and they started letting us in. A lady to our left asked for our passports and my LOOMIS reference/confirmation number. She put a sticker on the back of my passport, wrote down my LOOMIS courier reference number on it and handed back our passports and directed us towards the door to the security area. We walked up about 4 steps and opened the door. There, we went through security just like in the airport - all our items, jackets, watches, belts, etc. in the box to go through the scanner and we walked through the metal detector. (The only difference is they didn't make us take off our shoes!) We then gathered our items and was directed to the next door, which led to flight of stairs going down into the area where we sat and waited for the elevator. Around 8:00am, the security guard came down and had us line up for the elevator. We crammed in as many people as we could and went up (based on other forums, I believe it's floor 19). When you get in, make sure you face the back of the elevator because it is the back door that will open once you get to the 19th floor. When we got there a security guard was there and he directed us to go line up in front of wicket 14. We waited for a while and when someone finally showed up, they started calling everyone up one by one and gave us a number. My fiance and I were C-2. We went and sat in the "immigrant visas" waiting area in front of the electronic boards. It didn't take long before our number was called to a window. At the first window, we were asked for the following documents: 1. Passport 2. Birth Certificate (original and copy) 3. Medical Exam 4. My fiance's letter of intent 5. I-134 Affidavit of Support and supporting documents 6. Original Police Certificate Then my fingerprints were taken and we were asked to go sit down and wait for our number to be called again. By now it was around 8:20a.m. We waited for almost half an hour when we were called to window 8. This is the interview window. We got the famous interviewer, who I believe some of the Visa Journey-ers call "dreads". She was very nice. The first thing she did was kindly ask my fiance to move a chair that was in the way. She then checked my fingerprints and swore us in. She went through all of our paperwork, gave me back my original Birth Certificate and had me sign form DS-156K and she commissioned it. She then proceeded to ask me a few questions; 1. How did we meet? 2. What does my fiance do for a living? 3. How did the relationship progress? 4. Where does my fiance live? 5. When did we decide that we wanted to get married? 6. Then she turned to my fiance and asked him how he proposed. These are the only questions I remember...All I remember is that it was quick and only took about 5-10 minutes. She then gave me a piece of paper that said "Welcome to America" and said that she is approving my Visa and that I should receive my passport with the Visa in about 5 days. As we left, we waved goodbye to the lovely couple we met earlier and wished them luck. We exited the exact same way we came in. It was just after 9:00a.m. when we were done. 2013-08-07
