Meh.

OP give them 30 days at least.

I did cashier's check of $680 for U.S Department of Homeland Security on 3/27/18 & i just called bank of america now to find out if the cheque was cashed by USCIS but the bank representative said they didnt see that the cheque is cashed. On my account it reflects $690 was out cos they charged $10 fee for the cheque at the bank.

Lesson learned nothing.

It is very important to know while the terminologies they use and the headaches they give applicants make it seem you lost your residency, it is not the case in the internal system and court system.

Conditional resident is a permanent resident and while the NOA and filing within the 90 day period are important for a SMOOTH ride, only a judge can remove your residency, and that decision is NEVER EVER taken lightly without heavy proof against you.

At all points of the process, for even years after, you are afforded the chance to remove conditions, as in the internal US system you are and always will be a permanent resident until the judge decides otherwise.

You can see this with those that divorced, never removed conditions and then Years later applied again through new marriage, its always denied because system shows them as residents and all they have to do is apply for i751 waiver with as lil proof as possible, and as long as the USCIS doesnt have concrete proof of fraud, you will REMOVE THE CONDITIONS on your PERMANENT RESIDENCY.

I say this for people to know where they stand, to relax and just go through the paperwork, the whole system is a 3 legged turtle right now but it will end favoribly for everyone legitimate.

So again understand you are REMOVING CONDITIONS on a PERMANENT RESIDENCY not going from a TEMPORARY RESIDENT to a PERMANENT ONE as the papers might make you believe, so relax, the conditions will be removed at ANY POINT from here on as long as USCIS cant prove to a judge wrong doing (VERY HARD TO DO and if doable it can bite you at any point even after 10 year CG, even after citizenship)

It is much better to have an extension letter to present along with an expired GC.  Thus, most people file as soon as the 90 window opens.

The system (your turn in line) gives you 90 days. As soon as you send the paper you are extended for 1 year.

Not having a passport to be able to travel and enter the US doesnt mean you’re not a US citizen, same with NOA letter, good for traveling and proof of employment like any USC papers, but has nothing to do with your status in the system.

Usually the cheque is the first thing they cash.....

Did you send the application using a Tracked USPS, UPS or Fedex? (I hope so). That will tell you when the P.O in Dallas received it

We just went to get an I-551 stamp on the passport due to traveling plans in the Chatsworth CA office (GC expired on 4/17 and Ext Letter expired on 4/18).  Officer gave us stamp but kept expired green card. She said it was new policy but we should not worry about traveling as the STAMP is the new GC for 1 year until we get the new green card. Right now they are working cases filed on 12/17 and it may take up to 3 or 4 months.

No one in thread has said or implied that the OP has lost his/her status as a result of filing late in the window.  However, not having an extension letter, as is the case in this thread, severely limits the OP.  For example, traveling out side the US, then returning without an extension letter would be very, very difficult.  As I said, it is very beneficial to have possession of the extension letter before expiration of the green card.

Hopefully, the OP will receive his/her extension letter soon.
