Part 8 Employment Question

I am filling out the N-400 application based on marriage. Resident since 2014. I have a few questions I hope someone can help me out.

 

1. Is it ok if we don't remember the exact day of all the employment for the last five years (would month/ year be sufficient)? I am not sure if they contact all the employers and cross verify the dates.

 

2. Do I put only 3 years of employment and school or 5 years? I've read in other forums that people have filled it out only for 3 years because it is based on marriage. (I've been in the US since 2008)

 

3. In 2013, I volunteered for work for the entire year, should I put that in? That was listed under employment in my initial Adjustment of Status application.

 

4. Do I have to enter employment AND school info or just one of them for the last few years? (The text reads List where you have worked OR attended school)

Month and year is sufficient.

The last 3 years is sufficient if you are applying under the 3-year eligibility.  If you have been residing in the US since 2008, have you been a LPR since 2008?  If so, then you would be filing under the 5-year eligibility regardless of marital status.

Yes.  This is a good idea since it doesn't show any gaps for that year, and also shows Good Moral Character.

Yes, both.  Again, no reason why you should leave it out, as it doesn't work against you to include both

Thank you very much for your reply answering all the questions. I have been an LPR only since 2014. Have been in the US since 2008 (student visa). So would you still say only last 3 years is sufficient? Or does it have to be 5 since I've been here longer even before becoming LPR?

The important date for naturalization is the date you became a legal permanent resident, so it sounds like in your case it is the 2014 date. Follow everything else per mindthegap's posts.

Month/year is fine

You put all the years since you've been an LPR at least, preferably since you've been in the US. People who only list 3 years have only been in the US 3 years.

Yes, be thorough and consistent.

If it asks for work or school, it's asking for both. Add work and school.

Thank you. Since the one page in the application is not enough to list all employment and school, Do we use extra blank pages and type it up or make copies of that page from the application? Do those pages need to be attached in the end or right after that section?
